I have a MVS-U4 just like this one

MVS-U4.jpg

I notice graphical oddities in certain games like bust a move. Now when i pop in one of my two 1 slot boards into my cab there are no oddity's on the games at all. So i have been told that this could happen by not having the right voltage. I am using the original power supply that was in the cab when I got it. Also the cab used to shock me when i touched certain parts of it. I checked all the connections and everything in the cab is grounded correctly. the power supply has only a 2 prong plug but I have it plugged into a surge protector that is grounded into my wall and the cab no longer shocks me. Now my questions are could the graphic issues be caused by to low voltage going to the board? Should i replace my power supply? If so what power supply do you all suggest? Or should I just change the power cord with a 3 prong cord?

Thanks in advance.

It is very important that the 5 volts is set right, measure it at the board not the psu as there will be some voltage dropped in the harness. I set mine to a whisker over.

A low 5 volt rail will not cause the issues you mention, it would usually cause the game to reset intermittently or not boot up at all, usually goes to a green screen with some garbled gfx.

Your problem is more likely dirty slot contacts imho.

Ditto..

...............
And (I used to get a shock too)
Do you see the knob-screw like thing in the back of your cab where the power wire comes out.
That's for connecting a ground wire to...To something in your house like a water pipe.Something grounded..
What I did was run a wire from that into the ground hole in my surge protector?same plug I was plugging the two prong plug into from the cab.....(no more shocks)

I have cleaned the living heck out of all my slots on the board. Every other game works in all the slots fine but bust a move and some times SS4. But they work perfect in both my 1 slot boards. I really dont get it.

I personally could not find a placement for the tiny power supply..(I was looking for the same tiny one)

You may want to take a pic of your and post it up as someone may be able to match it up..

Is your bust a move a bootleg?

Well i replaced my power cord. I cleaned out my slots using the hard MVS technique. Bust-a-Move still has issues so i am now going to buy a new power suply. Here is one that should be the excat replacment for our cabs.

Thanks again for every ones help.

You see I don't know..I would like to know..

I bought one of these, hooked it up into the Candy cab the same way the smaller one is-was.
I got a loud whine in the speakers ,I had adjusted the 5V beforehand, then readjusted from the rail..
Still no change..I could not leave the PS in my cab so I put the old one back in..

The new PS is in my Klax cab and works fine so it wasn't the PS..

I can't figure out what I did wrong..

You may have better luck..
