Everyone on Xbox live should readthis article
This could affect A LOT of users. A company cannot supply a seemingly region-free service than take it away without taking SERIOUS back-lash.
I wrote a post on the official Xbox forum:
" I have the same concern. I live in Japan, own a Japanese Xbox Live Gold account and play on a Japanese Xbox.
I would like to take my Xbox with me when I visit America for winter vacation and play Phantasy Star Online while I am on vacation. If I read the article correctly it means that my Gamertag would be banned if I tried to take my Xbox360 to America and log on Xbox Live.
If this becomes a reality and Microsoft does start banning accounts that don't match up with their IP address a lot of accounts are going to be deleted, while some may be in violation of the terms of agreement, others will be people taking their Xboxes on vacation.
I have been a huge supporter of Xbox Live and its service, something like this could make me mad enough to switch to a more consumer friendly online gaming service and urge my friends to stop supporting our favorite online gaming service.
Bottom line is, if this rumor is true there is going to be a SERIOUS back lash in Microsoft support, especially in foreign markets where Microsoft is not doing so great (e.g. Japan)
BTW, Japan still doesn't have Street Fighter II for XBLA which is a Japanese game....
