As many of you know, I got my Neo Geo not too long ago from here. I won't say from who, however. I also got two games, one of which was in pretty bad shape.

Now, also as most of you know, I've been having these faint vertical lines in the picture. It's starting to piss me off, since there is no fix for it seemingly, and the seller told me nothing about it. Now, it's not my TV, it's not the S-video mode (which I was hoping would have taken care of it), and it's not the games. It is the unit.

I was thinking just today how I should get another one. Then I thought, why the hell should I? I think that I may have been sort of lied to. Yes, it's very possible the seller didn't know about this (if he/she didn't play the thing), but now that it IS a problem....

... what do you all think? Do you think the seller should somehow right this wrong? Or is it buyer beware? I can't really sell it to anyone for I know it has this problem. I can't help but get pissed off about this when I think about it. And to think I also did the modding and all to it too (thanks NeoGeo2k2!).

I mailed the person, asking if they had another for sale, and how I was getting kind of unhappy with this one, and they didn't reply back. What should I do?

Well, I gotta say this: I've played my AES on many, many different TVs, from excellent to crappy, and I've never seen a difference in it's performance. Which leads me to believe that he/she would've seen the problem on their TV. There's always the chance it happened in transit, BUT regardless, you paid for a 100% working system, you deserve a 100% working system or your money back. Am I wrong? To whomever sold this, let's keep these forums honest eh? If you bought something from Spike and it did'nt work, how would you feel? Honor your deal and buy it back or replace it. We're all Neo fans here, let's not be underhanded with each other.

It depends when did you buy your AES. If couple weeks then you can still contact the seller. If more than one month then it's quite late.

Another thing is the description given from the seller.

How long have you had the system? Have you tried contacting the seller about it to see what he/she said first? They may be decent and offer you something. It's possible they didn't know anything was wrong when they sold it to you.

I sold a Neo to playboy cougar with what I thought was a screwy A/V jack (cougar was informed of this beforehand), but it turned out that the RF switch was messed up and the system was fine. So I replaced it with an A/V cable. It's been about a month since he bought the system, but if it crapped out tomorrow, he'd get a refund.

I think that within a certain period of time after the sale, the seller should be responsible if any problems pop up unless it's made very clear that the item is being sold "as is" and the description of the item is clear and complete.

Contact the seller and see what they say.

Well...it's been about, hmmmm 3 or so weeks now, I think? I sent it out for the S-video mod to see if that would kill it, but it didn't.

I don't know, I am trying to be cool about it, but I'm not happy, either. It really occurred to me that I got a bit screwed when I starting to think about getting a Neo Geo to play with and just leave this in the closet. Then I thought "hey wait a minute, I paid around a good amount of money for this, I shouldn't be just content to put it away to get one that works like it should!"

I don't know, I'm not exactly saying the person knew about this and sold it anyhow to me, but it does sort of suck that they aren't exaclty taking a huge amount of responsibility for it, either.

I remember when I sold my first neo geo to someone. They were unhappy because the rubber feet were missing and there was something in the unit rattling around. I gave them some money back for it, because they weren't happy with it. I guess... I don't know, I just wish I had a perfect working Neo like I thought I was buying.

This sucks.

You modded your system? Then seller has no responsibility because you should contact seller first.

Yo, liquid. I had the S-video added because I was sure this would have fixed it. It is not doing this because of the mod. I made it better, for the most part... alas, it's still doing the same thing, only it looks nicer doing it.

I'm screwed, aren't I? Sheesh. Guess I'll be looking for another Neo Geo soon.

Maybe !Arcade! can fix it. He is quite competent.

Yeah, I may just have to send it to someone such as Arcade or whatever. It's a nice unit otherwise!

I'm starting to feel bad the last few days I've been posting bad comments. I'm going to chill out all. I'm not saying the guy I bought this from knew he was selling me the unit that does this, but....

Oh well!

Spike, see if Jeff Kurtz is willing to take a look at it. Although he's getting out of the mod business, he still might be willing to have a look at it. He's by far the #1 choice for a repair . . . although !Arcade! might be able to help as well. jmkurtz@macola.com

Good luck, sorry to hear about your problem. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

Yeah, let's get it fixed by Kurtz or !Arcade!... it's the best and probably less expensive way to have a fully working NEO...

Thanks guys. I haven't asked Jeff about this (well, getting it fixed at least). I feel I've bothered him so much lately with my problems on email.

It's not that it's a badly working system, but it's not the way it should be, either. I may just have to let Jeff look at it, if he is of course willing to do so.

Thank you guys.
