Hey guys/gals,

On a Golden Tee Golf (97/98/99 - all the same board) there are some PAL chips and a PIC chip... I'm trying to determine where the PAL chips go on the board just to make sure some #$(*@#@ didn't move them around.

There aren't any tidbits that tell you this on the various MAME websites so I'm hoping someone out here has the board to the game.

The chips are: "ITSFR-1", "ITSS-2", and "ITBP-1"

The sockets are labelled "U78", "U72", and "U65" (If I'm reading that last one correctly - kinda hard to make out on the silkscreen)

I already found a bad crystal oscillator on the board. Now that it has been replaced the game is in constant watchdog reset. The program ROMs check OK (and they play in MAME32 after saving them off with my EPROM programmer) and the sound subsystem LED blinks which is normal. The video status LED is not lit up at all.

Thanks!

Look at the mame source code, there are IC location details for many games.
I do not have access to it at the moment, just a thought

I did already. Didn't see it in there.

There were some layouts for different games, but not that one.

Damn... I was afraid they'd be in the right spots.

That ITGF-2 is the security PIC chip for the board. Mine is an ITGF98.

I guess it's time to check the soldering on that cheezy custom chip and maybe try to replace the CPU. It sure did get hot when that crystal oscillator stopped working - maybe it got toasted.
