so I finished RE:DS on the train today (why didnt the mansion blow up, why didn't I fight the tyrant second time? - I have no idea)

anyway I thought I'd try playing something else I need to finish up on, so it was NSMB, I was on world 6 or something.. played for 10minutes.

realised I hate this game, most frustrating, unenjoyable mario game ever.

its really quite poor

its like a mario game with no soul.

anyway I'm selling it now, I can't bear to play or finish it, also, I only have metroid , advance wars ( hng the effort) and the end of castlevania to finish (98.2% and cant' beat the last boss), and maybe julius mode,

seems my DS single player experience is coming to an end?

don't tell me I have to start bringing the ... ¬_¬ psp to work

lamewads

NSMB HAS NO SOULLLL

No!

That is not true!

Yoshi's Island is an excellent, extremely underappreciated game, kernow.

Get with the program.

PS: I'll be getting Yoshi's Island DS tomorrow, hopefully.

Jesus, let it be good.

its not really that good, the prerendered parts look dated, and the superfx really didnt need to be there at all. its a mish mash of the 2d hand drawn beauty, and the stupid 'oh look this is cool' effects.

I played through it once on snes and still own it, although I dont really like it that much, I played through it and didnt even bother with the secret levels, thats how much it dissapointed me.

I don't think there's a single pixel in the game that's pre-rendered and the SFX chip was used sparingly enough that it didn't hinder the game.

The only thing that was kind of a let down was the very last boss battle.

I played through the GBA port a while ago.

Had as much fun as I did the first time.

Will probably shell out those 7 bucks again when it's released on the Virtual Console.

Maybe.

I'm not really sure if those are pre-rendered.

Then again, I didn't really die a lot in that game.

glad to see this thread....I also did not like it at all.

It really just felt like I was going through the motions and connecting the dots [la-la-la]

FFIII should keep me busy for the immediate future though....then Castlevania...I have to be antisocial at work and eat lunch in my car so I can play my DS.

kern speaks the truth.
NSMB is a generic rehash
and YI is merely above-average. The last boss battle was what decided the purchase for me, because I played that part at a friend's house and loved it.
I really do have high hopes for YIDS, it does have potential. Thing is, I didn't like the Yoshi/Mario gameplay mechanic in the original. So yeah, I guess I won't like the sequel, either.

Played about three levels of Yoshi's Island DS about an hour ago.

First impression: It doesn't look or sound as good as the original, but it's pretty much a carbon copy of that game in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Still haven't found the new babies, so I don't know how that'll factor into the game.

That's actually pretty much what I was expecting.

I was really looking forward to this game and if it's Yoshi's Island 1.5 then that's good enough for me.

Also, you have to press Y to run now, which kinda sucks.

i like NSMB, but it's not in the GREAT category by any means

trying to get every last big coin in the game is frustratingly satisfying

and some of those levels are really nice

only probably is that the powerups are crap (blue shell?) and there seems to be a small influx of throw-away levels

I enjoyed it thoroughly

but I'll never play it again

then again, I never replayed a Super Mario besides part 1 and 3

its asstastic, I played it again this morning on the train

I can safely say I pretty much hate this game, theres nothing technically wrong with it, it just has no soul.

whats this the first 2d real mario after SMW?

nintendo should be ashamed

I'm bored of my DS I have no single player games left except MPH, advance wars, and finishing off CV,

can anyone recommend some single player games? dont make me take the psp to work.

I'm also going to sell about 6 of my titles, shit like polarium, nfs underground ... yeah

:(

Megaman ZX, with it's flaws and all, is actually pretty awesome.

Partners in Time is pretty good while it lasts.

I got Final Fantasy III for the DS and it's pretty good so far, if you're into JRPGs that is.

I'm selling my PSP soon.

Fuck that shizzle.

The New Super Mario Brothers really does suck, I'm shocked you bought it Kernow, The only thing good thing about it is the fact that the old games from Mario 64 are on it the mini games.

Play Ultimate GnG before you sell it. Now that is fun.
That's the reason why I'm selling.

UGnG was the only reason I was holding on to my PSP.

Now that I've played it, there's no reason for me to keep it.

I'll live without Portable Ops.

megaman zx is an awesome game. once you get over the fact that the map system sucks, it's really fun.

It has too much backtracking that artificially extends gametime.

Also, you spend a lot of time running around in circles because you don't know where the next area is supposed to be.

I would've preferred a "choose a stage" thing any time of the week.

Still an awesome game though.
