Okay, the PSP's default faceplate with its shiny reflective plastic drives me nuts. It picks up all kinds of scratches and fingerprints, and I got sick of looking at them with my original PSP. Back then though, there were no aftermarket faceplate solutions. Now that I have a PSP again I decided to see what was available.
So I grabbed a Flat Black faceplate from Decalgirl, and it showed up in the mail today. They had all kinds of colors and surfaces, but I opted for classic, flat black because a flat surface is not going to show those little hairline scratches that PSP's seem to pick up so easily, and it's definitely not going to show fingerprints.
Now I can play my system without OCD taking over. I'm planning on applying a screen protector too, I just need to order one. I took some pics of the completed job, have a look:

I used canned air to make sure no dust managed to get under the screen or on the LCD. The screws are fucking tiny too, I had to use the second smallest screwdriver I had on hand. Drop one of them on the carpet and you'll be looking forever. I also had a small issue with the analog nub connecting to the contacts properly, so I ended up opening the unit a couple of times to get it right. Overall it wasn't too bad.
