Well I got my super gun all built and such. Hooked up to my tv and got a great picture, however.. it was black and white?

I'm not sure what went wrong there.

I am using a converter I picked up, I think it is WEI-YA is what it says on the useless instructions. Model is cv-04.

The best part is the last instruction reads.

Turn on the signal source and conberter's power, and it can work.

I guess they were right about that, it can work.. don't mean it will, but it can.

Where did I go wrong?

Is it black and white In all the connections (RCA, Svideo, COmponent)?
Describe the Encoder... I've nerver heard of it... Ithink
What PCB are you using?

I'll see about getting some pics up tomorrow. I have some pictures of it in the paper work I can scan in tomorrow.

It only outputs with a composite connector and an s-video connector.

I'm using several pcb's with it. MK2, nba jam, cobra command (don't laugh)

which way do you have the pal /ntsc switch?

That would be my first guess.

If that doesn't fix it,
Does it give you color in COmposite ?

Ok I've tried the switch both ways. I've tryed both inputs, and both outputs.

I've tried to use the adjustments for the color brightness to see if that made any difference. It is just odd. I'm almost thinking that it is the encoder is defective or something crazy. I've checked the boards in my cab and they work fine. I know the jamma harness is set up correct and my wires are right. Heck I even tried to chance the color inputs thinking they were set up different on the board.

Make sure that you are turning the encoder off when the throwing the pal/ntsc swtich.....

Ok guys I've some info. I've upped my voltage and started to get some very pale colors. Nothing I could help with the adjustments though. I've been within it's operating limit the whole time but I think I need to up my signal strenght into it maybe. I'm not positive how to do that though.

Whats weird is that the input is 5 pin.

Should be 6:

Red
Blue
Green
Sync
Power
Ground

Unless sync is on green which I doubt.

Edit: Do they supply you with a wire harness for the inputs or do you have to make your own?

I suggest rewiring your S-video and composite jacks on the supergun, and make sure they're perfect. I had a similar problem with dull colors with my Neobitz-S encoder until I did that. I thought I had it wired up right, because I was getting a picture, but apparently I did not.

Ok let me see.

There are two inputs, one is 5 pin one is 6.
I have a connector for a five pin set up that is made for that type of connector. It came with a monitor and I did not need to use it.
I made one to use the six pin one and it did the same thing as the other when I hooked it up.

The only thing other than the board they supply was the cable for the power. I'm just running it off of a powersupply.

As for the cost. To be honest I am not positive. Maybe 60 after shipping. I did not buy it but it was new and unopened when I got it. I was given it because the guy that got it decided not to use it.

If anyone knows much about the monitors that you get from pentronix, they use the same kind of rgb hook up as this does with the five pin setup. Thats where I got the cable from.

Nothing on the unit is marked worth a darn and I don't think at this point I would recomend it.

I have one of these converters there pretty decent imo.
I thinks its 12v you need for power, make sure its grounded I plugged into the converter then ran the cable back into the system or you could just plug it into the wall .
Im using the six smaller pins.
r g b gr sy nothing in the last one
I found the harness some where
