What is the acceptable idle temperature range for an Athlon 64 X2 (dual core 64-bit processor)? I just got mine, and with my Arctic Cooling Freezer64, it idles at about 35 degrees celcius. Is this a little high (should be around 30 or so?), or am I just dreaming?

Yep, very good temp. Definitely no worries.

Those chips don't die until they hit 60c,my a64 3000+ @ 2.6 is at 24c.
When I had it on air cooling at 2.5 running stresstests it hit 55-56c so even at 60c it probably wont die straight just like that.

Thermal threshold is 75-80C. 60C certainly won't kill any CPU.

my AMD 64 always runs at around 55-58 C even with a GIANT copper heatsink w/120mm fan and 6 fans in the case....they run hot, its just how they are. If you are running at 35, ur a lucky man.

AMD Athlon 64 (Socket 939, 1.4 volts) 65°C.
64's don't run hot, even on air my 64 didnt exceed 40c even while playing games, 55-58c you must have some serious cooling problems or something isn't right.

One of the differences between amd's Athlon xp and the 64's is the temperature, the 64's are much colder.
