I'm in the process of doing a trade on a PSP, I haven't had one since the US launch. At that time I had Lumines, Ridge Racers, Untold Legends and Wipeout Fusion. It's been awhile.

So what are the best of the best titles for PSP? I've been looking at reviews, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Some of the titles I'm looking at buying soon:

Killzone Liberation
Ace Combat X
Tekken DR
GTA Liberty City Stories
Monster Hunter Freedom
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
Astonishia Story
Outrun C2C
WRC
SFA3 Upper
Guilty Gear Judgement
Puyo Pop Fever

Any thoughts on these, or recommendations for games I missed?

Initial D, an amazing racer that has me completely hooked (and I ain't into car/sports games).

If you like fighters then also at Darkstalkers to that list.

Haven't played them yet but these look amazing and are on my definite to-get list:

Ultimate GnG
Loco Roco
The two Mega Man games
MGS Acid 1&2

MGSPO is the masterpiece on the horizon (the reason I just got a PSP).

I forgot about GnG, I'll give that one a try as well.

And I am psyched for MGSPO, with definite plans of purchasing. I did try Acid 1 and didn't really care for it. Maybe I'll try it out again. It just never felt like a true Metal Gear game to me for some reason.

I've only played 2, but I heard they streamlined character movement, so even though I likes 2 a lot, I've never gone back and played 1.

Acid 2 actually does feel like Metal Gear to me, and when I thougt about it, what I've come to is that it's like an extremely short Metal Gear game, artificially lengthend by having everything controlled by the card system. You still sneak, snipe, peak around corners, avoid cameras, etc., etc... but if you played it realtime like a normal MGS, you'd probably be able to blast through the entire game in about 30-45 minutes. Having to use cards for everything extends the game by hours. Still, I had a lot of fun with it, and I've played through it about 5 or 6 times, and going over some missions probably closer to 20-30 times, trying to improve my rankings.

Outrun is also a hell of a lot of fun, especially for a portable racer.

I also just picked up Power Stone Collection, which I've become completely addicted to... It works way better on PSP than I was expecting it to.

If you are looking for Guilty Gear Judgment, you might want to import it. The Japanese version has the latest GG game, XX Slash, while the domestic release only has #Reload. You can get both for the same price really (I picked my imported copy off of eBay for 36 dollars or so), but it all depends on which one you want. The differences are relatively minor (slightly touched up graphics, 2 new characters, readjusted balancing), but most of the menus are in English, so no big deal (The story sequences in the beat em up portion are not). Might impact you if you have a friend with Judgment already.

Just letting you know...

Both Mega Man games, Loco Roco, Lemmings (come on, it's a classic!), and SFA3 for sure. There's not much else on PSP I'd pay for these days. Of course, I haven't checked out a lot of the newer stuff, so I can't really say. There are a lot of titles I want to check out, though.

Do not forget any of the Capcom Arcade classics games and Mega Man Powered up if you are jonesing for some level customization. Man if I wasn't such a DS freak, I would of snatched up those games as well.

You might want to get some copies of Wipeout Pure if you live near a Blockbuster video, it should be a fun pickup game if your friends have a PSP as well.

If you are true Neo-Geo gamer, then watch the clock for the PSP Metal Slug collection!

If the PSP you are trading has an 2.71 or lower PSP firmware, you can run some nice stuff like emulators, shoutcast radio players, and even fast loading utilities if you get my drift ;) If that is the case, get yourself the golden Sony battery pack.

I saw Gundam Battle Royale when I was in Tokyo, and if I would've had a PSP then, I definitely would have bought it. It looked like classic Naomi game Federation vs. Zeon. When I got out of the PSP game before, there was virtually nothing worth playing. I'm glad that's changed now.

I just finished Killzone Liberation last night, it is highly addictive and definitely worth playing. The game is TOUGH, but not frustrating. I just kept playing until I finish it. I hear there are downloadable maps soon too.

AC X looks great, probably my next game to play. I really like both GTAs (finished Liberty City Stories and working on Vice City Stories now), if you like GTA, you will like these. The funny thing is that I like GTAs for the PSP more than for the regular consoles.

Outrun C2C is great, it can get old because you are racing the same stages over and over. But for a fun, arcadey racing game on the go, you can do much worse.

Some other games I would recommend:

Initial D (Import)
Metal Gear Acid 1/2 (if you like card/strategy games)
Ultimate GnG
Megaman Powered Up
Megaman X Hunter
Exit (fun little puzzle game, only $10 at Best buy)

Is the Burnout title for PSP worth buying? I love Burnout 3, so would it be a worthwhile purchase? I know it has some content from B1 and B2 in there.

Yes, definitely worth it. Legends is basically 3. Great game, the crash mode isn't as tight but still worth playing.

No one has mentioned the Legend of Heroes games yet. Are they any good. I'm a fan of Falcom in general.

I can 2nd this game. Very good if you're into generic JRPGs. Haven't played the 2nd one though.

Well, the two games are released in reverse order here in the US. There is a third Legend of Heroes game for PSP available in Japan, and this one was made directly by Falcom instead of Bandai. The games are some of the first from the series to be translated in English in many years. A lot of American gamers probably won't have any idea what they're actually playing. The games kind of step up an extra notch from the somewhat recent PC versions of the games.

Isn't Y's the Ark of Napishtim either out or coming out on PSP? I never gave that title a serious look on PS2, it would be a good portable game though.

Stick with the PS2 version. The loadtimes on the PSP version are horrendous.
