Unsoldering the reader and solder in a working one?

Whats wrong with the one in the 4 slot? If its missing you can buy it. Ask for one here or check ebay.

It is the 2 slots that have the on board reader, for a 4 and 6 slot you will need the MV-IC memory card reader board and two connecting cables (CN 6 & 7)

He didn't ask where he could find one, he asked about replacing one and that can mean more than one thing.

Thanks. I was just wondering if it was possible.

As far as the one working on the cab I'm buying, well i talked to the selled yesterday and he said the cab looks great (It does sans a few scratches) and plays perfect. Problem is, he does not have a memory card to yest out the reader......headphone jacks work though.

There is nothing much to go wrong with the readers (all passive components)
Maybe bent or dirty pins in the card socket. You will probably find it is OK.
Check the selling forum for the NEO-IC8 PCMCIA cards, or equivalent.
