AES/MVS joystick port request.

I need to make a lead with an end that will fit into the Neo-Geo joystick port. The problem though as I am sure many people know is that not any 15 pin female connector will do. I have looked everywhere locally and nowhere has one that will fit. So my request is, does anyone have anything that will fit they can let me have? Maybe some sort of Joystick exstention cable I could hack would do the job too :)

Last year I bought 10 extensions from this shop:

They're the ones that are supposed to fit a neo port. They work like shit. The amount of force necessary to plug them in (or pull them out) could break the port on the AES/MVS. I still can't believe people on this forum recommended these...

Anyway, if you don't need to plug/unplug frequently they could still be used (at your own risk) and I can send you one if you pay the shipping.

hmmm, I would need to plug and unplug quite often so maybe its not a good idea depending on what causing it to be tight. Would shaving off some of the plastic around the outer edge of the female connector make it looser or is it the pin alignment (hole size) thats the problem?

The few joysticks I have made I just bought a regular Neo Geo extension cable off ebay, and lopped the male end off.

I just McGyvered up a couple of cables for a customer to convert some snazzy USB joystick units for his AES, but the DB15's I sourced weren't long enough to make contact.

Has anyone had any luck sourcing deeper DB15's?

It won't? I just built a supergun & am in the process of making a controller both with DB-15 ports thinking I'd be able to use the controller on the Neo and use Neo controllers on the gun! :(

You'll be able to use the controllers on your supergun but not vice-versa.

You might be able to use joystick extension cords and cut/grind off some of the shell to allow the contacts to reach deeper. Otherwise you'll need to find an SNK extension. Ebay might be the best bet, but you'll be buying from overseas.

(If you need any mods on your Neo I can do UniBios and other stuff... and I'm in Melton!)

Best I've used is a cord from a broken NeoCD pad. Just awesome, fits perfect and grabs perfect.
