CPS3(SF3): is this MB dead? SF3.bin?

hi i just bought a set of spare arcade parts.. it came with a fully working area 51 with pistols really cool game by the way... also an spare CPS3 mother board. with SIM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and the black security cart... i was wondering if this MB is battery dead.... i was looking for the cd but didnt came with it...
my questions are.. i can use the SF3 bin from mame? not the chd the original bin and burned it to test it? i have the scsi unit. but want to know if its working....

does the security cart game exclusive... ? ... or it works for every other game?.... whats the process here... the cart only control the data.. or is game specific...

its written SF3 so im guessing its street fighter 3, i would like to know how can i make a test to see if it works...

also im attaching an image of what the monitors looks like when turn it on...

i did two tests... i turned on with the cart inside... and black screen... (no cd attached), and turned on without the cart inside and i get this image.

If you've got a motherboard you don't mind possibly frying you could try plugging it in.

I wouldn't really recommended it unless you didn't mind possibly trashing the motherboard, the cart and possibly setting something on fire.

DON'T DO THAT.

If the screen is black on power-up then the battery in the security cart is probably toast.

Sounds like a job for Razoola. He may be able to bring it back to life.

Nah your CPS3 cart is TOAST. Once those carts are dead, they're dead. Raz also can not at this time bring them back from the dead. Once the battery dies, thats it.

i still have some hopes here.. i turned on without any game loaded... i dont have it right now... thats why im asking where i can find a copy of my lost cd... if the .bin from around the web will work...
or anyone can tell where i can find it.. emule....torrent.. etc... let me know... thanks.

by the way.. is there any use to the mother board and the sims.. lets says if i find a security cart i can use it with my MB?

does the security cart works with every single game, or the cart is related to the game?.... of course the cd version of it..

Each CPS3 game has it's own security cartridge and a CD (except the NO CD versions.)

If it is the version which needs the CD then you'll need to find one.

Games like SF3:3s do have Version A, with unblockables and Version B...

Version is determined by the CD, not the cart...

REGION is defined by the cart, not the CD. No matter which CD, the region is defined by the Cart, so all of those asian carts will stay asian carts.

Go over to www.killercabs.com and do a search on CPS3 isos, they have every single cd for every single game there.

Worse comes to worse, Download one of those MAME CHD packs, and just uncheck everything but the CPS3 games, and there you have it.

As of right now, You need a CD. If you wanted to play a NoCD version, you have to have it flashed to your SIMMs already. So just the cartridge wont do you any good.

If you took the SIMMs and Cart of a NoCD, that will work, but thats pretty much the entire system, and would cost you about the going price of a NoCD, minus say... 5$.

Sounds to me like your Cart is dead. Get a SCSI drive w/cables, and get a new game. Theres always hope though.

thanks Mulletron for all the info you gave me, i found the sf3 cd, i have the scsi unit at the officce this week ill try it and see what happens... let you all know... i think is dead too but i keep a little hope LoL, by the way if anyone knows the MVS system and how it works help me in my new post.. i have an mv2f that palys neo geo cup 98 but doesnt start sengoku 3 and samurai showdown 3 (it worked one time) then all i got is the neo geo screen and fbi warnig.. then it resets.. already clean it all the contacts... please take a look at it.

one minute for another cps3 cart gone... is there any use i can give to it?
is possible that some day someone crack the protection on the cart?...
by the way its a pci card inside the security cart..... i guess capcom guys connected to a pc and reprogram it... if only we could find a capcom ex-worker willing to leak the process.. maybe ina couple of years...
