hi! I hope someone can help!

I have a 2 slot board and suddenly my game select button isn't working! The cherry Switch definately works. In the hard setup's test mode, the button doesn't respond. any ideas on what to check or how to fix it??

**I recently bought a "king of the monsters" off ebay. When i put it in, the problem started. It may be coincidence, but i'm not sure.

thanks a billion!

3 things

1. trace the wire back to the harness, and make its not broken in anyway

2. check the ground alot of times in fact almost always the grounds are jumped from button to button crimped often in one connector you could always run a new ground to the switch to check that first, and just because a cherry switch clicks dosent mean it works.

3. what kind of cab?

Thanks for the response!
I'm a newb at this stuff.

I'll try following the wire back to the harness when i get home. I'm not sure what the ground is or where to find it, can you describe how to check it, or post a pic?

I tested the potentially faulty cherry switch by connecting it to another button and it worked fine.

Here's a pic of my cab type. 4 slot cab running a 2 slot board.

thanks!

If I remember correctly, the ground for the select buttons is black and it connects with the grounds from the 1P/2P buttons. You'll see it when you open your CP. There will be three prongs on your cherry microswitch. One in the middle should be for the Select button wire, very bottom should be ground.

Also check your softdip settings -- make sure Game Select is set to "free"

Chances are either the wires to the button have come loose at the microswitch or the microswitch isn't hitting right --> try pulling out the microswitch and just pressing it while it is connected to the wires.

Hey mighty neo there are two wires that run to the switch, one runs to the harness and should be colored, and the other should be black either runs to the harness or is jumped off of another button, the grounds on the harness I believe are on the ends.

easiest way to test the ground would be to plug the colored wire into one of your other buttons that is working (removing that buttons colored wire first) and then see if it selects the game.

check out www.hardmvs.com the jamma harness pinout is here.

SOLVED! but with a new issue :)

WOW you guys rule!! thanks for all the help!! I followed the wires to the harness, everything seemed ok, so i jiggled the wires at the harness and suddenly it started responding!! woohoo!

BUT, for some reason, when i have the my king of the monsters cart in, i still can't change games. the soft/Hard dip seems in order and all my other MVS carts don't have this problem. any ideas whats going on here??
thanks a ton
