'Cos he does scare me plenty. Zangief is one of those characters in MotM that has quite good priority + surprisingly good reach + fast jabs... his low sweep comes to mind... so when I play against the CPU I usually just use my best character... ok, more like my only character Kyo with his long leg sweep and long kick during jump in, then cancel in to some fast combos, and then jump back out... I'm way too pussay to stay in Zangief's zone for 1 second longer than necessary 'cos I fear he would just grab me with his pile driver, and when the difficulty setting is on gamer, 2 pile drivers could easily send me to my maker...

Capcom seemed to have made Zangief gradualy better over the years. He was shit in SF II, but by Alpha 3 he was a decent character.

decent?
more like grappling god.
in alpha 3 he's almost invincible.
he truly is the lord of battle, especially when you combo his lvl3 super.

He may be a badass, but I've just never liked him. I hate these :360: :blow_top:

he is unfortunately blinded by his soviet patriatism. Capitolist based characters like Guile have far better financial gains.

zangief is a killer, no doubt. And strong as he was in alpha 3, he was still a force in SF2. Granted he had alot of weaknesses (low forward keep away tactics)but he was still a monster in the right hands. My partner played strictly zangief and dhalsim on SF2 and he was a terrorist with em. Even gave my guile problems who I reckoned to be the gods choosen representative. :p

I just sold my hyper fighting cabinet and this makes me wish I hadnt, but no one wanted to play it. Id like to say it was because I was so good but i know its really only because of the alpha 3 and third strike cabinets. Good times though.

That move is insane. Juggles like feck. I think most moves trade against the movable spinning lariat? The only move I found effective is a strong sweep to trip him.

he was not shit in the original SF2 World Warrior. His SPD didn't push him back very far at all, he was free to get into range again and tick into another SPD. That's pretty devastating and stuff.

I beat him everytime with Ryu by just jumpkicking. Even on harder difficulty levels. Maybe some people were good with him in SF2, but I never met any.

thats cool. you gotta love people who take an underused (often underpowered) character and become dominant with them.

as for zangief in motm, my nakoruru seems to have a pretty easy time with him:down: :A:

Nobody gives a shit about CPU AI when factoring in how "good" a character is.

yup. Thats kind of his tactic, use the characters people are not very familiar with, get good with them and rely on the fact that there are new tricks people are not familiar with and exploit the hell out of em. Back in the day he was the only person I knew using makoto and Q. Now since all the japanese SBO vids these characters get used alot and the tricks have all been seen, but at the time his kara throws were unbeatable.
