Toys R Us has had Bubble Bobble Revolution for a few days now, so I picked up one of those. I owned the Japanese version of New Rainbow Island and didn't really care for it. (However, I didn't see it at Toys R Us anyway)

The big let down is that you still need your own copy of the game for multi-player.

Stay away from Bubble Bobble Revolution. IGN has confirmed that the USA version has a level 30 glitch where the boss doesn't appear. With out the Boss making an appearance, there is no way to pass the level and play the other 70 levels.

They stated that they contacted the game maker but have not heard back. I own two copies, so I will hold out for a recall or an action replay code to get past the problem. Fuck....360 breaks down and now a game ending glitch. Not my day.

So, have you got to level 30 yet? IGN tried multiple copies and every copy had the glitch. Also...I have seen a bunch of post by people owning the game (USA version) and no one has made it past level 30.

I actually had two copies but one was still sealed, so I took it back to Toys R Us. I am hoping for an AR Code that allows passage past level 30. If that happens, I would be happy to load your game or anyone elses with the code. Shipping would be cheap for just the card.

Playtesting is dead. I am really looking forward to this game but no way I am buying a broken game. Shame shame Taito.

You are correct about that. Especially with games for systems that are on line (like the 360) where they can just patch them.

Anyway, IGN stated that they notified Codemasters who is responsible for the USA release of BB Revolution but never heard back. I am guessing that the game will sell poorly anyway, so they won't even bother to address the issue.

I'd just like to say that Bubble Bobble Revolution has some of the worst cover art I've ever seen. Secondly, I don't think Rainbow Islands is out yet.

from codemasters.com

We have been looking very hard into this issue with Nintendo and have now determined that all of the carts that have been shipped in North America are faulty.

Needless to say we are extremely sorry that this situation has arisen and would like to apologise to all customers who have bought the game.

We have already started the process whereby a corrected version is to be manufactured and will ensure that all customers have their copies replaced. Unfortunately this will take 8-10 weeks (simply because of the time required to manufacture new carts). We will update (via this board, and email to anyone who has emailed us) what you will need to do to get a replacement game, as soon as this has been determined.

Please note. This only affects the North American version. Customers in other parts of the world should not experience this problem.

I will be honest with you. The reviews were horrible for this game and I just can't see Code Masters making a big production run of these to replace the defective ones.

I doubt the game sold that well in the week it was out and I just can't see them bothering with a re release. I think the 8+ weeks Code Masters is talking about is just to get people to forget it was ever released. After I e-mailed them with the problem, I got the standard e-mail that was posted here. They didn't mention how I would get a replacement copy once they are finished fixing the game.

The Toys R Us by me sent back the three copies they had. Anyway, I am holding out of an AR Code that gets me past level 30. The classic mode is fully playable and really the best part of the game. It is just too bad that each player needs a copy of the game.

I thought about that and I don't know. I had two copies one sealed and one opened, so I took the sealed one back for a refund.

Since the classic version is fully playable, I can see people wanting it. However, the game got bad reviews and there is Bubble Bobble Old and New for the GBA, so I can't see a huge demand for a broken game.

There could be a collector out there that wants it though, depending on how many copies actually exist.

small update from codemasters

We have already started the process whereby a corrected version is to be manufactured and will ensure that all customers have their copies replaced. Unfortunately this is not a fast process, as manufacturing DS carts takes many weeks and they are only made in Japan. So it looks as though the replacement game will not be ready until the new year, unfortunately.

Well, there are some AR codes out for this game. Although, I didn't see one for the level 30 glitch, I think there was one that unlocked all the levels. Anyway, I may try out the codes later today to see if it helps out.

update

Thank you for submitting your recent request to Codemasters Customer Services concerning Bubble Bobble.

You have previously contacted us with regard to the faulty version of Bubble Bobble, whereby the New Age mode of the game cannot be played beyond level 30. We are pleased to say that we expect to be sending out replacement cartridges, that rectify this fault, from February 23 onwards. We would, however, also like to apologize for the length of time that this process has taken.

In order to get a head start on replacing the game we are emailing you now with instructions on the replacement process. Firstly, we need you to return your existing faulty version, so that we can remove it from circulation. To enable you to do this, we will send you a reply paid envelope. Can you, therefore, supply us with your full postal address and telephone number, so that we can mail you this envelope directly?

IMPORTANT. Please note that we are unable to ship to PO Box addresses. Can you also please state whether the address is a business or residential address.

Once we have your faulty game, we will send you a new copy, as soon as they arrive.
