OMG DOOM!!!! Up on XBLA right now for 800 points (it's a little steep).

Once I get home from work I'm gonna be rocking the mutlilplayer. Add my gamertag and let's battle! I like how this was put up out of the blue. Did anyone else know this was coming? I was at the XBLA booth at TGS and they didn't have this. I got to try out Contra and Super Contra, they were alright, but my fondest memories are definately with the nes versions of those games.

800 points seems a tad steep for this. I will consider it depending on the lag issues. If it's as bad as Hyper Fighting I'll have to pass. The lag on SFHT makes the online play virtually impossible.

For the most part, I have no problem playing Hyper online. Not lag free, but nothing is.

The orig was made to be played over a damn modem...

I think that they can figure out how to reduce lag.

Figuring out how to reduce lag and actually bothering to do so are 2 different things. I'm not here to argue about it, I'm just saying that if it's as plagued as Hyper is then why bother with it. Also, I downloaded the demo. While it definitely brings back a feeling of nostalgia ...... it's still the original Doom. It looks good and plays good ...BUT .. I dont think it's worth 800 Points. 400 would seem more appropriate for a title that has peen ported as much as this one. Hopefully those of you that purchased the full version are satisfied with it.

Does anyone know what happened with Lumines? Is it still coming out... or has it been scrapped?

OH MAN THAT SUCKED! Damn xbox live ! I played a few games with a dude in Australia and the lag was just damn terrible.

The one player is great, it's a damn good version of Doom. The graphics look nice and the redone music is cool.

But unless they patch the multiplayer then this is gonna flop.

Quake 4 has A LOT less lag than this.

Then why pay for online support, just play on PS2 man. :) Even PS3 is free online. LOL Xbox users make me laugh. I cant believe I even tried thier online crap a few years ago, what a mess it was, and free it was not. :P

Pretty sure it comes out in October.

Around the same time that the new PSP Lumines game comes out.

I love Doom, but I'm gonna pass on this. Too rich for my blood.
$10 for a game that's been basically free for eons....meh.
Yeah, you could say that about any of the roms...but hell.
Anything more than $5 better be really awesome...like Lumines if it ever shows up.

They cleaned up the graphics a bit and integrated online co-operative and deathmatch play, and it's a great port overall. I found it to be well worth the 800 points. If nothing else, I can relive some of the earlier days of my gaming youth. I spent countless hours on Doom and Doom 2 on my old 486 and this brings back so many memories.

I passed on it because it trys to display in widescreen, even on my 4:3 monitor. Setting to screen size 10 (max) leaves me with a thick black border all around the game. The prob could be specific to the vga cable, I did notice some games went from 4:3 to widescreen when I switched from a 4:3 tv to a monitor.

I'll probably go ahead and grab this one. I'm a sucker for the nostalgic bullshit.

i really want this, but hell, 10 bucks is way too much!

I mean I payed 5.99 for Doom RPG on my cel phone, and that was a brand new game in a way.

plain old pc doom is 10 bucks? multi player or not, there is no way this can cost more than geometry wars evolved.

i'm downloading the demo and hopefully that's enough, if it goes on "sale" i might pick it up, 400 points would be more fair.

you should get doom AND doom II for a 10 dollar DL pricetag.

I agree, I think that $10 is too much for this game. I did DL the demo but that level is super short. If a lot of people play this on Live, I may pick it up but at $5 I would have grabbed it right away.

ive been playing it last two days, i havent had any problems its not the game its the peoples connection, when you are in a lobby waiting for people to join a game you host it shows there connection out to the right, if they have a shitty connection dont play with them pretty simple to understand,?

i host most gaem i play though, my upload and download are both only 512k, never any problems with any games, So its really just like anything else you play online, if someone has a shitty connection how can you expect it to run good, just leave the lobby find another game,..

and i have been having HELLA FUN playing, matter of fact i just finished checking my nightly woot.com, so back to Live i go..

send me a request

Wow, thanks for the lesson in the internets.

Considering this can be played over shitty old modems, I'm not too impressed.

Oh thank you great one for teaching me the ways of avoiding people with bad connections...:kekeke: :kekeke:

Considering the game ran fine over a 14.4bps modem in 1993, I would have to guess that it *is* the game or the live network, and not people's connections. Pretty simple to understand?

most likely laziness on whoever ported it. i play in 16 player GRAW games lag free, there is no reason doom should be lagging.
