I'm going to be shotgunning my caps this weekend in hopes that it will cure the ghosting/ washed out colors on one of my 2 Astro cabs. Is there anything special I need to know about capping a 29" nanao? I've done cap kits before on smaller Well Gardner monitors. I'm assuming the procedure is the same.

If there's soemthing i need to watch out for, please let me know!

Thanks,
Bill

Hey Bill let me know how it goes, and where you got your cap kit, I assum these are your Matsu cabs, and I need to cap mine too, Have you thought about changing the chassis to a trysinc so you can have a vga input? I was reading that you can do that over on the sega-naomi forums.

Well there isn't a cap "kit" that I know of. I was planning on writing down all the cap sizes and going to a local electronics shop and getting them there.

I have considered upgrading to tri-synch. I'm going to do that if I botch the cap kit and kill the chassis. I guess I'll post whatever progress I make here.

PS- This astro is from Matsu.

Not sure what local electronics place you're talking about but I went through Jameco and got about 5 times the caps needed for cheaper than I could get them through RadioShack. And I'm not talking about cheaper per cap....the whole order was cheaper than the exact amount needed from Radioshack.

I was planning on going to this place:
http://www.cablesandconnectors.com/

They're about 30 minutes from my appartment. Now that I think about it, maybe its worth me saving the $6 in gas and just ordering from Jameco. At least that way I know they'll have all the parts in stock.

Does anyone have a cap list for the New Astro City chassis? I'm lazy and dont' feel like making my own list LOL. If no one does, i'll post it when I make it in this thread.

Yeah I can source them. They're like $160ish IIRC before shipping. I think Wei-Yah makes them, but they're compatible with monitors. I hear the High-Rez is amazing, however the low rez is sub-par compaired to the Nanao chassis.

Hey Bill you ever cap your monitor? I am gonna be capping mine in the next few weeks and was wondering if you had a list of caps, so I could get them before pulling the chassis out.

Unless you're using a JVS cab, what about controls?

No I haven't had a chance yet to pull out the chassis and make a cap list, I've been too tied up with other projects at the moment.

BTW you'll still need an IO for your naomi, even if you have a tri-synch monitor. The controls are adapted from USB to Jamma or JVS using the IO. The IO also does video, but you can by-pass that if you have a high-res monitor.

Yeah I know about the I/O for the controls, non jamma. I actually had one for sale that Mr. Megalo bought from me, but I'm not putting a tri-synch chassis in anyway, the prices I got quoted with shipping were well over $200.00 and recapping will cost me like $20.00

I recently tri synched my Candy cab and it is worth the $200, naomi games look great in hi res.

It is like having a brand new cab.

My chassis is a Wei Ya bought from Miami.

How do the standard rez games look with the Wei Ya?

Which candy cab did you install it in? Which monitor make and model was it? Was the conversion easy?

Finally, what place in Miami has Wei Ya chassis? I'd love to avoid importing one if possible :)

Nah I'm a lazy stoner LOL

That and I've been getting my Naomi GD system up and running lately. I finally got it to boot last night :) Just need to get a game now.

The hardest part is fitting it all into my astro so it looks nice. I think i'm going to build a shelf into the wooden plant in order to fit all of the required hardware. That, and I need to tap the AC input so it powers the second power supply. Big PITA, but it will be worth it once i'm done.
