just picked up a copy of kof 94 on mvs and it occasionally has scratchy sound. Both board (MV-1) and game are impeccably clean.

Had a game before, kizuna encounter do the same thing. Both games are legit. Any idea what could be causing the sound issues?

The game works fine in a two slot and phantom 1. What could be causing this? My MV-1 is wired for mono. Could that be it? Or should I adjust the power supply?

I'm thinking about getting a new one slot to fix the prob. Yaton has NOS one slots but I don't think it has volume sliders.

How would you adjust the volume on one of these boards?

Hey Daybona! Now, I'm not sure whether this would have anything to do with your issues, but I bought a whole bunch of early MVS kits a while back and the copy of 'Burning Fight' that was included had scratchy and kinda distorted sound every now and again during game play on my 1 slot boards. The interesting thing was that included in the original kit was a factory printed sheet of paper that suggests if a sound issue presents itself on 1 slot boards, disconnect or remove a couple of ceramic caps on the cart slot board. Take a look at the scan I just took of this info page below.

It suggests that the sound issue would be fine on a multi-slot, which as it turns out, was the case when I tested it on my 4 slot!! No issues what so ever!

The thing is I already had a copy of the game which was perfectly fine on any board revision and must've been a later copy. On opening up the problematic cart, one of the boards (clearly an earlier revision as far as the component layout is concerned) had a cluster of ceramic caps and a wire or two at certain spots on the PCB's. The game is 100% legitimate, though I guess an earlier revision susceptible to this audio issue.

This whole thing may have nothing to do with your problems, though I found this really interesting and wondered if there may have been other titles with similar issues.

Oh, and no I haven't actually cut the cap/s off my MV-1F(S) to test whether it fixes it or not, though I'd imagine it would. Good luck with solving your audio concerns man;)
