Ok, My JROK is coming in the mail, everything is being built fine... but as I've seen on D-Lite's superguns... above his component outputs, he has Knobs... How would I go about installing this? I have Knobs, but what would I need for the Pots?

I'll make this my general question thread. Once I'm finished, I'll make a well written FAQ, as they are hard to come by... completed.

Thanks.

Bump!

So this thing is mere seconds from completion... but then I ask to myself...

Uhhh.... How do I hook up the S-Video?

I got the JROK without the PCB mounts.... so I can use my panel mounts...

And theres a bunch of holes... and composite...chroma.... what goes where?

Thanks.

Jrok has a image of his board on his sight with a pin out for the jumper pins. Use that or you can solder to the connection points for each one. The ground should be easy to find the only problem would be getting the the two signal pins for s-video right on the first try.

The S-video pins are so small, it's one of the hardest parts to solder on a supergun, I think. The two bottom pins are ground, and the top two are the chroma and luma. Hook up the ground first (I just solder the ground cable to the outer ring on the S-video jack, and solder the two ground pins to the ring -- less room for error). Then experiment with the two signal pins while it is turned on by touching the wires to the pins to make sure you're hooking it up right, and to see how it's supposed to look when it's done. I made the mistake of doing this wrong recently, and the video output looked awful, but it looked like I had hooked it up right, so at first I thought it was a problem with the encoder. It turned out the S-video jack wasn't hooked up right, and it would have saved a lot of time to just do it the way I talked about here.

Thanks guys, thats a handy tip, I was getting so damned fustrated yesterday soltering those crappy pins. When it started coming all together and bringing in allllll of the wires... I realized that the box I had was way to small for my level of experience =( So, I'm going to drill and nibble out a much larger box and try again.

I have pictures of the process I will post very soon.

So, the SW300 doesn't have -5... how lame is that? I thought I read somewhere it did...

Man I wish I didn't have to start over...

What games actually need the -5 line connected? Most homemade superguns don't seem to have it. Do the MAS Super Novas have it? I kind of assumed the -5 line was mostly for games with special controllers like driving/gun games.

Regarding compatability:

I'd say that having more amps on the +5v is more important than having a -5v connected.

All games with the exception of some older boards and old ass nintendo boards with the weird -24 and -12 volts will work.

-5 is mainly for some audio lines... specifically Stereo lines.

I consider myself to be a tad bit of an audio-phile, but I can live with mono I suppose.

Update on my supergun.... None... Been busy with school, and May Drill and nibble new holes in my bigger box tonight.
