The old-style AES stick feels nothing like the NES Advantage. It feels about (arbitrary large number)x better. If you're used to US-style (Happ) arcade sticks, it takes some getting used to but once you do, it's great.
Here's a run-down of everything I've used in order of preference:
1. Old-style AES stick. It's my favorite but the buttons are old and getting a little unresponsive. The stick itself is perfect, though.
2. Modded DOA4 stick (360 board removed, restrictor changed for a square Sanwa one). Very close second to the AES stick (even before the restrictor change). I've been using it more lately because the buttons take less pressure to work.
3. Happ Competition modded Pelican Real Arcade stick. I changed the buttons and stick for Happ parts. The original stuff was crap. It now handles as well as any US arcade cabinet. This one has the best buttons but the stick doesn't have quite as well-defined corners as the AES and DOA4 sticks.
4. NGCD pads. I keep them around for the whiners that say they can't play with a stick. They're very good but it's harder to hit multiple buttons at once than a stick. They're very good for puzzles and casual gaming.
