I'm probably not alone. But I regret never playing Neo Geo games at home until I got my Neo Geo CD last October.

All the wasted years playing Street Fighter II instead of KOF, or playing unique games like The Super Spy and Crossed Swords.

I wish i would've paid more attention as a kid because now i wonder how much more Neo Geo stuff i'd own if i'd paid more attention when i was younger.

Just thought i'd put in my 2cents. Anybody agree?

Yeah... I'll agree to that. I was consciously down with Neo Geo as a kid though... I just never had that much cash. There were plenty of Neo Geo cabs around here when I was a kid. Right before arcades started to die out, I kinda stopped going to them. Guess that's how it happens...

My real Neo regrets are the things that I've bought and let out of my possession... :oh_no:

That shit was WAY too expensive for a 10 year old kid. There was no way in hell I could afford one then. I have never regretted anything in my ENTIRE LIFE. Everything happens for a reason.

Getting my first Neo back in 2003 was a major psychological achievement for me. I had wanted one for at least 10 years, and I felt like I had really accomplished something that day.

I couldn't afford one when they first came out, but I'd rent one off and on from a gamestore near my house.

Few years later this kid in my neighborhood got one, but for the entire 1.5 years he lived near us he only owned one game ( Magician Lord ).

I owned one when I was 13 (or so) and I allways have loved the Neo ever since, and I been buying and selling Neo games my entire life since then. I devote a bit to much time into the Neo but I love the good old SNK so I can never get enough SNK stuff. :) I never regretted getting the Neo.

After the Neo launched in the early 90's I remember really wanting one, but after 95 the Neo kinda dropped off the map in the US, so I never really missed it until emulation of the Neo came into its own and I remembered how fun I had with the Neo in the arcades.

Once I got a little cash and I picked one up. IMO fun is fun regardless when you play it.

For me, i didn't have Neo Regret until I played WakuWaku7 earlier this year(Evo). I also played really oddball Neo games like Ninja Masters and more conventional Neo games like Real Bout.

I couldn't afford a Neo Geo until I was 16.

always used to play it in the arcade. some of my friends had an aes, but they always had only a few games, 4 at the most (prices). till end 94 begin 95 the cd was released and i got one. the best part is the best snk games werent even released till the neo cd got released. only decent fighters they had where SS1 and FFS back in the days, the rest was all mediocre.

it really was a blast having a neo cd in the beginning when it was released. i still remember the quility titles released after another, playing SSII and rarely KOF94 and some older titles. all of a sudden we got a fat upgrade in graphics and shit when FF3 got released back then, then KOF95 took it over for real man. even after 96 was released we was still playing 95 (liked it far better than 96). who could forget SSIII and metal slug? also the RB's where the bomb every release they got. i still remember the day KOF97 got released and seeing pics in videomagazines anqtious just to play it. played this game for years man.

p.s. its all thanx to emus i got a chance to play a lot of neo games as arcades where dying out and neo stuff didnt come out no more. otherwise i may not even have gotten LB1&2 (2 sucks on cd), or ninja masters (didnt like it first playing it in coffeeshop jamaica on a big red). though i was lucky since most of the games before the neo cd where not my cup of tea, all the great fighters and shit got released when the cd came out. too bad they didnt get released till the end with titles such as motw and newer kofs and others such as kizuna encounter, waku waku 7 and MSX.

I love threads like this... I love hearing about people's childhood/early experiences with Neo Geo. Anybody else?

When I was a kid in the UK, Galaga, Asteroids and Scramble were it for me. Twenty years later in PNG got an offer I could not refuse, 3 dedicated 6 slot Aussie version MVS cabs for firewood. Never looked back - I enjoy them. No regrets only fond memories.

I always liked king of fighters, but was always annoyed that the weren't any saturn ports in the US, so I would play street figher, personally I think both snk and capcom made excellent products,
well anyway, THere are only 2 things I regret though, once there was a working 4 slot cab (and it had last blade 2 in it to ad insult to injury) in the garbage marked free, about a year and a half ago, but instead of immediately talking to the proprieter of the barber shop and asking if he'd hold on to it until I could come back, I just came back the next day with out talking to the guy first, about 2 minutes after the garbage man, and they just threw it in the truck
the other instance was when I was 10, the local pizzaria owner gave away is 4 slot, I could have gotten it (I was the only person that played it anyway), I could've had andro dunos
well now I've got my home console I don't have any regrets about it, except buying a copy of riding hero, I know it was actually at a used game store, but that still doesn't make it right

I am fairly new to the Neo Geo scene myself.

When I was a kid, I always wanted a Sega Genesis, but my mother did not want me to have video games for fear I would sit in front of a TV all day (which I would have)

As I grew up I started getting into the console modding scene. My favorite game system hardware was the Genesis. I *love* the 68000 CPU, it is brilliantly designed..but anyways :) . A friend of mine, Deven Gallo (was featured on Tech TV) informed me of this 16 bit game console with hardware very similar to that of the Genesis. I was very curious, but certainly did not have the money to buy one and test it out.

Now, I have an AES, and it has by far became my favorite console out of all the systems I have owned (LOTS!). It is the only system that truly delivers on arcade-quality gameplay at home.

In Mexico the NeoGeo as an Arcade game had and have great success, every new version of KOF filled the Arcades, but as a home system is almost unknow, there are no places where you can buy a NeoGeo AES or games for it, and if you have the lucky of find one, mostly are in a very bad condition, because almost all consider them as a wastle of space because no body posses an AES system,:oh_no: I have buy here complete systems at USD60 with 2 controls and 1 game, believe it or not, I already got 4 US and 1 JPN systems that way (of course I have already 2 NAM's and 3 Magician Lords), well the point of all this is, when I was a child back in 1990 I started to love the NeoGeo stuff, the first game I played was Fatal Fury in an Arcade, back in 1991 the NeoGeo was an easy to get system but was too way expensive, it was till 1997 that I got one with Fatal Fury 2, Nam and Art of Fighting, but now that I con afford my stuff for myself I have a cool colection, I just love the mood that only SNK games have, every single game was different from all, I dont have that sensation with the new games, I have many consoles but I almost dont play them, I enjoy more play things like RBFF2 or WW7 than new games, maybe is because I wished too much one when I was a kid.

The arcades in DC always had crap neo-geo selections, but my friend owned one when we were kids.

I loved the games, SS was really what sold me on SNK back in the day. Since I'm older and can afford it I've purchased items left and right.

No regrets, though. SS was enough for me as a kid, and the series still rocks.

I regret buying a Neo because I just realized I get less than $400 a paycheck.
Shoulda swallowed my pride and bought a rombox, same games but for free.

I will say that the first few months of me owning an MVS were exhilirating. After realizing how poor I was I was like, wait a minute, I could own every arcade game for the same price I paid for this.

That's my Neo regret.
