so, i started playing chrono trigger again this weekend on my modbox and DAMN, now i remember why i got into rpgs in the first place. i'm addicted to it. i've already played for like 5 hours which is about the amout of time i usually spend playing games in an entire month.

so, i'd love to take these games with me on the subway/plane/bus/city park/etc...

what's the best way to go about doing this.

DS lite w/passkey and G6 lite?
GBA micro w/some sort of rom cart?
PSP(don't have one and really don't want one)?

what's the good word guys?

sounds like me exactly. As far as SNES RPGs go....I think GP2X has decent SNES emu's....but not sure [no matter what it will feel emulated]. MY SOLUTION: a GBA [be it SP2 or Micro] as there are tons of AWESOME RPGs for it, all in the same vein as SNES. Seriously. Its all I play lately. Definitely the route to go.

Agreed with GBA. Some good SNES style games, and a few ports here and there (ie. Lufia, Phantasy Star II, etc.)

too bad you don't want a psp.
chrono trigger runs great on it.

meh

The biggest problem I had playing emulators on my PSP was the shitty screen. 2D stuff ghosted all over the place. Reminded me of playing games on my old "dual scan screen" laptop. AWFUL awful screen for that stuff.

The new GBA screens [micro included] are so pretty they hurt.

Well I have no clue what you're talking about.
I played CT on the PSP as well and it looks beutifull.
It's clean and way better looking than the actual SNES.
So I have no clue about ghosting since that's not here in my case.

yeah, i don't get that ghosting either. i'd rather play it on a psp screen than
a micro screen anyday. sure it looks sharp on the gba, but how can it not on
something so small? others run just as well too. secret of mana, etc, etc.

and having a save feature built in is always nice too.
oh well, get a gba and play games in the same vein.

makes no difference to me

I can definitely see ghosting being a bit of a problem when it comes to the faster paced games...but an RPG?

I play Pro-Gear and Gigawing on the daily, and it doesn't even bother me at all....

Pro-Gear is friggin awesome on the PSP. I can honestly say that it looks and plays much, much better than it did on my XBox.

Much props to NJ. The guy is a coding genius.

I used to own the original Progear and playing it on the go with all that glory (great pics, sound) is worth getting the PSP.
