Okay, I installed the latest version of devhook. Installation occured with no problems. All I'm trying to do at this point is to get 2.7 up and running (not trying to play a game or anything.) I've put both my Lumines and Smart Bomb UMDs in and when I start devhook all I get is an error that says "The game can not be played". Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

When you say the "latest" version of devhook, which specific version are we talking about as there are tons of mods, etc.

I know the straight devhook never just went into the emulated firmware without first running a game then exiting so.....i would say your problem is your settings. One of those settings, you have to tell devhook to run from UMD disc instead of "iso any umd" or whatever its called.

it will launch your game, exit the game and once you return to your dashboard or whatever the hell its called, it will be fw 2.7 emulated.

Well i got devhook runing and emulating fw 2.71 no probs.. Though i've only played one of my games TEKKEN.

I dont know what your doing but devhook dont run untill i ask it to from the dashboard. it boots and you have to make some selections. Set FW at 2.71 and i hit run.

Boots up and i can see that its 2.71 from the dashboard.

I'm running the latest version (.46?) and installed it using the ultimate installer program. It sounds like perhaps I need to change the settings so that it plays the UMD. How do I do that?

So are you actually able to launch devhook? Does the program startup?

when you launch devhook, it takes you to its adjust setting screen (push O). When you push O to adjust the settings a lot of things come up:

UMD SELECT - --UMD DISC--
UMD MOUNT - UMD DISC
UMD VERSION - No Change ((unless the UMD game is dependent on 2.X and above then select that one but your games are not I dont think (for sure Lumines isnt))
FIRMWARE - 2.71
CPU CLOCK - 222/111
BOOT SELECT - reboot XMB
OTHER > REMOTE CTRL - "No Change"
OTHER > preload address - "No Change" (89000000) default
OTHER > USB OPTION - ON if you use USB and loads ISO from PC
OTHER > SCREENSHOT OPTION - "No Change" Disabled by default

once the game runs, just exit and it should take you to an emulated fw2.71 unless you are after running a 2.7 dependent UMD then happy gaming.

these are set to launch UMD discs, setting to launch ISO's would differ.

I tested this using Wipeout Pure (another launch title) and it returned me to FW2.71.

UMD SELECT - ANY UMD

i can launch devhook w/o a umd in the tray.
you just need one in there to run the iso's

Okay, the cluebat has finally struck me. The program is not running after all. When I go to the memory stick, I see the devhook icon. When I select the icon, the PSP reboots and I get a blank screen for a couple of seconds and then I get a screen that says "the program cannot be run." The firmware is still 1.5. Because I was confused about needing a UMD in the drive, I thought that devhook was saying that it couldn't execute the UMD. I now realize that it is devhoook itself that isn't working. I used UI v1.1.1 to install it as I had heard from other people that this was the easiest way to install. I'll try to reinstall it and see what happens.
