What do you prefere?

As for me, I own both. I really dig the first-gen DS as for design: it seems like a game console and not as a 'cool' ipoddish device as the Lite does. Also, the GBA carts *fits* in their slot.

I don't care the thing is quite bigger than the Lite actually, for I usually play it @ home anyway, but...

the screens of the Lite are just TOO MUCH batter, that's a fact. Just for the screen quality, I hav eto stick with Lite.

Well, here is what I was wondering: considering Nintendo is NOT discontinuining the 'classic' DS, are there some chances for the screen quality of the old version to be updated to the Lite-screens level, as Nintendo did with GBA?

I don't get it.

(I understand your question, but why would want the old style?)

The quality of the screens on DS Lite basically render the old one useless to me. It's just too much better. I have no problems with the old DS though.

They did discontinue it. And I prefer the lite. Gave my old ds to some kid. Kept the old pink one though.

but as a gamer

I figured you'd prefer functionality over form

and to be honest

the DSLite has both pinned down

despite the "weak" control cross, the good outweighs the bad: lighter, brighter, uniform (not oddly shapped), etc.

Yeah, in fact as a gamer I can't help but to prefere the Lite overall. The screen are SO MUCH better the gaming experience is almost another one completely. I came back playing AkumajouDS on the Lite and I was amazed, really.

But a classic DS with Lite-quality screen would be another story for me. ;)

I thought you meant DS Vs Digital Subscriber Line. I guess you can play the DS on DSL with a wireless router, but it would be slow as shit.

the DS only needs 2mbit at the very most.

The DS Lite is so much better, there's really not much comparison.

I'm not dropping $130 to have the differences however. :p

I think I'll save my $130 for a Wii and have all the ds games big brothers at home. :tickled:

Probably alone on this one, but when DS first came out, I thought the design was great. I do remember thinking it was clunky, but I liked it a lot. I'm kind of embarrassed about that now. :lolz:

Yeah Really

- Nintendo has confirmed that the old model of Nintendo DS is no longer in production, the company will only produce the Nintendo DS Lite model in future.

They probably just have stockpiles of old models left over to sell. The Japanese sales charts show thousands are being sold every week.

Don't think so. At the time the Lite first came out, the regular DS was sold out in the whole Japan also. The stores in Japan are continuosly re-stocking the old DS, which is basically still selling about the same of the PSP (if not more) everyweek.

I have both systems, in terms of design the old DS is big, chunky and oooh so ugly. The screen is very dark and has some blurr. The only 1+ thing I can say about the old DS is that the GBA games fit nice and snug. The DS lite is sexay, thin like a hot chick and hands down steals the show.

Wrong again shito.

- Here are the latest Japanese console hardware sales for the week of July 31 - Aug 6, 2006:

1. DS Lite - 163,572 [3,533,399] units
2. PSP - 49,352 [1,116,075] units
3. PlayStation 2 - 25,987 [882,231] units
4. GBA SP - 2,784 [179,598] units
5. GB Micro - 1,928 [111,444] units
6. Xbox 360 - 1,389 [64,783] units
7. NDS - 1,159 [950,903] units
8. GameCube - 904 [60,417] units
9. GBA - 34 [2,956] units
10. Xbox - 14 [1,624] units

And they are just selling the rest of what they have. Its been hovering between 1 and 2 thousand units a week. I think the last time they sold over 10 000 units was early july.
