There are some good games coming. I do have a hard time paying $5 for some of the Namco games though. Yes, they are great classics but they have been released with other Namco games again and again for what ends up being less money.

I'm sold!

I've got a score of 905,000 on the PSP version here, took hours on that one go :( The highest achievable score on the PSP version is 999,999 aswell so I was pretty close to maxing it out :p

You could always play your own music....or stream a track.

I thought this was already confirmed not gonna happen.
This is why at E3 they talked about the licensed US artist's tuneage from the WB label.

Believe me, if we somehow got a magically identical to PSP Lumines with Live features, I'd pay $40 for it. Don't think that's what we're getting.

Anyone familiar with Lumines' gameplay knows that custom soundtracks wouldn't really jell with the way the gameplay works...gotta be in tune with the 'rhythm bar' that allows you to delete the blocks.

Anyone got a cheap forza with arcade on it to sell me? I've been dying to jump on this here bandwagon.

Pac-Man and Galaga are shit ports, IMO.

Why the fuck didn't they use the whole screen for the game?

Side art is cool and all, but at the expense of having a smaller playing field - wtf?

Oh, and both of these games fucking lag, while SF II Hyper Fighting doesn't.

You can expand the playing field holmes...besides, these ARE vert games that wouldn't fit properly on the screen anyway.

I'm relieved Pac-Man and Galaga at least have the proper sound samples in tow, after so many botched Namco Museum versions of these games.

Hyper Fighting deserves more criticism for it's screwed up sound effects...and as for the claim that it was delayed since they were building it 'from the ground up from the arcade code', that's bullshit.....it's the same recycled gfx from the PS1 SFC2 HF port. Not to mention the fact it lags like a little bitch online.

Huh? What are you talking about "expand the playing field"? The only options I see are related to starting lives and additional lives. Unless you're talking about manually stretching the TV screen, I don't see it.

Yeah, it's not perfect either, but I at least you can expand the screen.

My theory is that every game lags online and you just notice it more in 2D fighters.

And I don't think it's that bad in Hyper. Not any worse than previous Capcom fighters, and while I hope in the not too distant future these games can be lag free, the way they are now is good enough for me. Even with the lag, it's still a damn fun game as most matches are pretty smooth.

Anyways, why would anyone want to stretch Galaga to fit the screen widescreen? That would look retarded.

Heh, I fucked up...I was thinking about how I did it with Frogger (which also is missing the original music too).

I dunno man...the screen's proportioned the way the arcade is...it's just a vert game that takes up even less space on a widescreen TV. Butta's right, it would look retarded if you stretched it. Meh.

Galaga plays fine for me. Someday when I've got some major dinero I want a cocktail machine with the real deal...until then, this'll do.

HF pisses me off though...it's the one JAMMA PCB I still own.

No, I'm not talking about distorting the aspect ratio.

With the current setup, there's space above and below the playing field. And of course there's tons of space to the left and right on a widescreen or a 4:3 TV, so why not use that additional space to line up the top and botton of the playing field with the top and bottom of the TV screen?

Just seems like a waste to me.

Also, the complete lack of video options is even more of a shitburger for people who have the VGA cable, and have their 360 hooked up to their computer monitor which can be rotated 90 degrees for vertical games (Galaga, Pac-Man, etc.). Very sloppy, and I'll definitely be holding off on XBLA games for a while because of this nonsense.

And the Frogger bullshit ... :oh_no: ... what in the fucking hell, the music is one of the most nostalgically appealing and best parts of the game. Who woulda thought that companies would still be delivering shit ports after all these years.

With Frogger, I wonder if it has something to do with the controversial history of the game. If you don't know what I'm talking about, literally for like 20 years, there was an ongoing legal feud between Sega and Konami over who actually created the game and who it belonged to. I'm wondering if perhaps the OG music was Sega's creation, and perhaps that ceases to be a part of it as a result of that settlement. Hmmmmmm.

Yeah, TATE mode for those games would rock...but then again, these are products that definitely aren't really aimed at the hardcore. Oh well. I'm sure I'll still bend over for Time Pilot when it comes out. :emb:

Sounds logical. I hope it's something like that - to think they missed something like that in the conversion is pretty fucking infuriating.

Yeah, but they should still be flexible and have all the options available. If you make games for the hardcore audience, they're usually backwards compatible with scrubs.

I probably won't take it in the keister again until Ultimate MK 3 comes out.
