I ask what the definition of Conversion and Dedicated arcade cab cause i won an ebay auction a month or so ago: LINK

The desciption says its a dedicated cab.

Now i was able to pick up the cab yesterday when it finally arrived in MI. Heres the prob.

Today i got an email from the seller telling me that i picked up the wrong cab. Saying that the one i took was a conversion cab and the one they have at there arcade that i was supposed to take was the dedicated one. She said i can either keep the one i have now or take it back and get the other. I have no idea of the condition of the other cab.. I'm happy with this cab for the most part.. Only thing that bugs me is that the top marquee area has been taking out and replaced with just a large marquee and light. The wood frame and marquee light panels are gone. To me that means conversion right? As in the machine has been converted from a multi game to single game.

Now i thought i got the right cab as its the same one in the picture forsure.Metal slug 4 up top and the scratch on the black side panel. So i dont know where the mix up is..

They said that they dont know what the machine looks like cause its in a corner still wrapped up and barried behind many other machines ATM.

I'd lke to just swap the top parts out of that one if i could.. Doubt they would let me but if thats the only difference then thats what i'd like to do.. Other theni bet the other one comes with 4 games.

So i dont know if they mixed it up with putting the wrong numbers on the 2 cabs or she listed the wrong pics in the auction or what..

What to do..

A dedicated is a cab made for a specific game.
A conversion is cab that hosts a game different than to what was originally in it.

Edit:
In this case, if its a Neo Geo cab, it wasnt one to begin with. If you are in the US the dedicateds were the Big Reds.

Welp mines on the list so its a dedicated cab... So i just need to figure out if she's calling it a conversion since it was changed to a single game (metal Slug X) but still has the 4 slot board.

I'm starting to think the other cab they have could really be a conversion cab and they just mixed up the numbers.

The only differences I see are that they've changed out the marquee and the speakers. I say if you like it and the monitor's fine, keep it. That's a lot of trouble to swap cabinets.

i would refer to that cab as a hacked cab, it being a 4 slot and some jerk off cut the metal marquee holder to make 1 large single one fit. IF they wont let you swap the top metal mechanism I might be able to help you out, I can't quote a price or anything.. but if all else fails give me a pm and i'll see what i can do for you.

Your Cab..

5a_1.JPG

I have the same cab/you got a great deal..Nice cab..
All you need is the proper T type MVS Marquee for your cab to be back to normal..You don't need the whole metal top door, just the plexy MVS marquee..but if you can get the whole thing from the seller/take it..

If you need a picture of what you need LMK..

I have(dead) green panels if you want to put the original light set-up in it..*then you need the rest)

And I have the clear 4 mini marquee holder if you need it,...if you happen to find the T type MVS Marquee without it..
Some of the repro T type MVS Marquees come with the mini marquee holder built in.(Ebay-sometimes)

Hey thanks for the help guys!

Well, i already got the marquee light panels froma member on these forums just encase it wasn't behind the marquee they had up there... And yes i need it as the whole inside of the top is gutted. Only a ungly white plastic floresent light is there. So i'll need the wood frame that holds the speakers and holds the marquee panels in place.. I thought that hopefully someone could take a picture of it and give me some measurements and i could make it myself if i have to.

Its sad that they bolted the speakers right to the black cover panel.. Hopefully i can take them off without the paint being scratched. Touch it up if i have to.

Also the plexy glas thats there is not the original.. Someone just cut it to fit. And the Red Neo Geo on top is just a re print.

I bought that red plexy glass marquee cover the same night i got home with the cab from someone on ebay that i had hold it for me.

So yeah.. Looks like i'll need the clear marquee holders! That would help me out alot.

I'm hoping to go check the cab out Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

I dont know if they will atleast let me take the top guts and swap them.. maybe they will if i tell them i'll do the work hehe. It might work since there former manager quit the morning all the new cabs arrived from the rail.

Well i went to the arcade today and i knew what was up as soon as i seen the cab from a far still wraped up. That cab is a conversion cause it was a non SNK cab.. Looked like a Capcom Cab that had black sides and a red SNK MVS Stickers. So they must of mixed up the tags they put on the cabs before they shipped them there.

Pretty stupid cause they could of saved me a trip there if they would of just told me it was black and not red. So i got the right cab after all which is the one in the pic.. Funny thing is that both cabs were just metal slug X.

So chris1.. Whats this Clear T Marquee your talking about? Can you point it out in these pics? http://www.hardmvs.com/html/marquee.htm

I have on me the 2 light panels with 4 lights total.. Only 1 work. The Curcuit board for it, and The red plexy glass marquee holder on the way.

I know forsure i need the Wood panel that holds the speakers and marquee lights in place.. If anyone can give me a pic of that without the marquee panels in there, that would help me out alot.. Maybe throw me some measurements of it as well.

Oh.. I dont have those clear marquee holders.. Thats whats holding the marquees in place on the top right pic?

This is one solid in T shape Large Marquee.(as I call it)......It's Not two pieces.
I have seen repros of these on the internet(I think Lithy bought one)that have the mini marquee card hold built into it../thus no need for the clear mini marquee holder.
So if you got one off the internet it may have the marquee holders built in..

Since you have the =The red plexy glass marquee holder on the way..Wait until you get it to see if it has the mini marquee holders built in...

Otherwise if you need this part LMK..I say $20.00 shipped by priority mail/with DC tracking number....The box is going to have to be made longated so it's going to weigh more then the part itself.
