Including the purchase of your system, how much money did you spend to play Metal Slug 3 at home? I hear people say some cable offers the best visual quality and that costs so and so.

since the MS3 cart is around $200, how much is the system and the cable? Anything else I would need? Oh yeah! The DIP switch!! I heard that could boost your number of lives to 99!!!! 5 credits just isn't enough! Surely I'll try to beat it with less lives time after time.

But I never want credits to be a problem. That should remain as an 'arcade thing', depending on how much change you have in your wallet.

Anyways, anyone care to give me some numbers on the subject?

you would be lucky to get MS3 at $250
you would also be lucky to get a neogeo at $200 with the old style joystick
Perhaps you should be looking at spending $500

However, let's say you want to get that nice resolution you mentioned. 2 ways - output to a monitor (x-rgb1 cable - expensive), or get s-video out (modification, you should read into tech forum for more answers on who to contact). Either way it will probably run you over $60 just for better pico quality (not really that bad without it though).

whoa. the system has been out for so long, I figured they would reduce the price somewhat around 100 or so.

AES is 16-bit right?? I thought it must of been 32 bit!!!! especially when playing MS3 in the arcades, I thought it would take a 32-bit system to handle such a monster of a game!!! Then again, I really don't know much about technical stuff about bits, processing and so forth.

thanks.

hey, I may be blind, but I didn't see a section in this website where you could order an AES system. does SNK still ship them over here?

and would buying an MVS be cheaper? does it include the cabinet/screen? MVS is the arcade thing right?

You can't order them from shawn's store because Shawn doesn't have any in stock. SNK doesn't make any more systems and hasn't for a while. If it was currently in production, the systems could sell for very little indeed. If you should happen to come across an honest-to-goodness "new" system, DON'T USE IT!! It's pretty valuable in that condition because they don't make these anymore. Provided you buy an MVS Cabinet local to you, you can get one fore very cheap maybe $250 to $350 depending on the condition, features. The MVS version of Metal Slug 3 will still cost as much as the home version though. Overall, MVS is the way to go if you want to keep prices down. Home carts are only for those that aren't scared of sinking the price of a Playstation 2/Xbox into ONE game alone. Metal Slug 1 goes for well over $1000 on ebay whereas you can find the MVS version for $60. So keep all of this in mind. A good compromise is to buy a home system and get an MVS convertor from !Arcade! You get the best of both worlds. Personally, I love the home carts so much that I wouldn't want MVS. Money is more easily replaced than these games.

They can't reduce the price of a system b/c it hasn't been manufactured for years. It's all supply and demand at this point.

Yes, MVS is the arcade machine.

Ola, the Neo Geo AES and MVS is not mainstream like the GayStation2, MockBOX, or
LameCube that can be retailed as a package deal I'm afraid. The Neo Geo AES I remember 10 yrs ago it retailed for $700 with 2 joysticks and a game not of your choice tho. I'm afraid you're gonna encounter mostly collector "supply and demand" as of current and had to buy your items separately. Here's a link of a 2-slot I thought was a good deal and you can BIN it -
go get this MVS quick and a Metal Slug 3 link you can check out. I hope you get it. PEACE

I got myself a supergun to play mvs games on for 350 dollars,it was the best money I have ever spent.I played metal slug 3 on it changed lives to 99 although with dipswich you can have infinate continues and access the blood too, completed the game with 47 lives left as I just went for broke as I knew I could not lose, its a lot more fun that way,mvs is so much cheaper in the long run,for example,MOTW is $450 on aes,mvs cart id just $100.last blade 2 on the aes goes for over $150 its only $50 + on the mvs and the biggest deal is the original metal slug which you can get for about 40 dollars mvs compared to 700 plus for the aes version so you really would save yourself some money in the long run especially if snk do not release anymore aes games due to there finacial situation!!!

Ola Lee - Does the rest of the SOFTDIP DEBUG settings that Bonus have of MS3 worked for ya esp the INF bombs and SPECIAL WEAPONS dip??? Did you use those at all???

No i did not use any of those settings to play the game as it is more fun running out of the weapons and looking for new hidden ones,I must say though the second level is a lot easier than the first as I only lost just 3 lives completing that,I must admit though seeing how much people are paying on ebay for the first metal slug,I think they are mad,it only takes about 45 mins to an hour to complete with just 6 short levels and the ending is just a paper plane flying over the towns you destructed,I do like the mr T lookalike though
