How to spot a conversion?

Hi, I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere but I ran a search and couldn't find anything.

I'm thinking of getting into the wonderful world of Neo Geo after playing on my friends. However after looking at several sites I've seen that conversions seem to be everywhere and being sold as original carts.

So is there anyway to spot a conversion for sure?

Thanks

are you talking conversions like Metal Slug MVS to an AES cart? Or talking unreleased AES carts that were conversions like Bang Bead, Prehistoric Isle 2, Ganryu, Strikers 1945? The easiest way to tell a conversion cart like Metal Slug is the cart sticker and insert. Use the pics from the master list here as a comparison. Most of the time, conversions dont look as nice because they are not professionally printed. Another thing to look for are watermarks, seals, serial numbers, anything like that on the insert. !Arcade! did conversions of a lot of carts and printed serial numbers on the spine of the insert...but those were for unreleased AES conversions. In a nutshell if you want to be safe, buy from the trusted sellers here...*cough* like myself..*cough*...lol...or if you see something on ebay you like, just post up a linky and myself or the tech gurus around will help you out man. Just don't be a deuschbag like alot of the noobs here. Welcome to Neo-geo.com!!..home of the drama.....<---you'll understand sooner then you think
