"Yaton Special" carts?

So I went to Yatons store website www.arcademvs.com and he recently listed back a ton of "special" "100% working" carts. obviously by reading the forums here and just flat out looking at prices, these are boots. My question is this though. How are his boots? Usually boots are a hit or a miss. 100% perfect sometimes and you cant tell the difference. Other times you get not so lucky and have audio blips and pops or graphical glitches. Just curious as I have been looking for 6 months for Nightmare in the Dark now and none of you bums want to sell one. I know boots are frowned upon and I hate boots/bootleggers myself, but I just really wanna play NitdD on real hardware and his copy at $40 is calling out to me....even though I'd give one of you people 3-4 times that for a real one. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Think about it this way,

You get what you paid for. Could be perfectly running, its up to you.

I got sold a Puzzle Bobble boot from Neweragames one time and it definately erased everything that was saved in the Neo's memory. Now I did not realize it was a boot until i opened teh cart up after my memory was erased. Moral of the story, DON'T GET BOOTS!

Bah, he really shouldn't list them under "Special" as people will misinterpret that to mean "special deal/sale" or something. Why doesn't he just list it as "boots" (It's not on eBay, so legality probably isn't it)? I originally thought that he simpled labeled carts as "100% working" for boots just to be able to sell boots on eBay, but it seems that he does it just for the off chance that people won't realize that they're boots.

Still haven't gotten my Yaton carts by the way :crying:

I wont risk my beloved MVS trying to run a boot cart, save some money and buy it original, it will be for the best. Im looking for NitD too and its pretty expensive right now, i found one for U$ 200 on ebay im not buying it, i will find it for less soon.

So he's back to selling boots on his site again. You can grab an official Garou from ECL for cheaper. The only really tempting one is NitD for me. Like Bill said, don't get boots because it can ruin your hardware.

He lists them as "special" carts to intentionally decieve people who do not know. Yaton is one super-shady character, watch out for him.

NiTD is one of, if not my favorite NG game. Its so bad-assed. Be patient and wait for a legit cart to pop up. Don't settle for a boot...

I know, I emailed that guy MANY MANY times asking if he will go any lower on his price. Its been $200 for like 4 months and is still there. Common sense says drop the price and it will sell. Oh well...Ill just have to wait some more....thanks for the replies everyone....I think Bill should sell me his NitD.....just a thought.

In case Yaton's relisting of the boots has anyone questioning his business practices, I have this to say:

I just ordered a set of 4 carts, 2 of which are boots (yeah, yeah, tempted by the dark side and all that ... I just can't find the damn originals and I'm willing to take the risk). Immediately, he sent me an email thanking me for my payment and saying, in no uncertain terms, that the carts are bootlegs and is that OK with me before he ships the order. He's definitely not being sneaky about anything here.

Anyway, I'll probably post back here with my findings when they come in. I've got my fingers crossed but keeping my expectations low.

Yaton is cool, I bought one of his NitD boots and when I got it the cart was damaged in the mail because of poor ass packing but I played it and the game played perfectly all the way through, then I snagged the sticker off the cart (gold warning sticker) and told him that it was damaged in the mail and that I do not accept bootlegged games, so he told me to ship it back and I did, and I got my money back and bought some nice non boots from him with that $40 bucks. :)

So I got to play and beat the game and got a free gold sticker, lol. Then I got 2 other carts and free shipping them back to me. All in all Yaton is worth it as long as you dont mind, 1.) Really Really dirty carts or 2.) Completely fake outer shells or 3.) *Special Bootleggs. At least he is super cheap and has some good deals.

Got my NiTD from him for FREE about 7 months back!!! Yes thats right for FREE!!! How, you ask...well...it's like this, I bought a neo turf mastas and a puzzle de pon set from him for 25$ shipped off ebay...listed as 100% original, 100% working, and guess what...100% boot! so i contact him and he offers me a full refund, just send the games back...so I tell him that I don't care if they are boots or not, it's just that now I lost some resell value and should be compensated (I mean realistically, for the 25$ I spent, it wasn't worth the hassel of sending them back)...so his reply, pick a game, any game from this list (sends me an attached list w/ the email) and I will send it to you for FREE, no shipping, no strings, nothing, just pick a game and be happy. I did, all 3 games still work great and I am still very happy.

Just ordered a "Special" Money Puzzle Exchanger.
Got an email directly saying that it was a bootleg, and wanting me to confirm that it was ok.

Works for me for $40 I guess... picked up some legal games as well :)

Samuel L gets snakes on a plane...

...and I get spiders, son. MotherFu*%in' spiders in my Yaton games! And they were NOT SPECIALS!:blow_top:

I know they could've been boots...I knew ahead of time they might be alittle *dirty*

But for crying out loud, BUGS?! I don't want SARS or no shit like that for my 'Special'.

Luckily, the price was right and my dishwasher works. Time to hit up HardMVS for some replacement labels, and go enjoy my 'diamonds in the rough'.:glee:

Lol, his games are usually dirty as hell, but spiders was a first :P

I always clean my games like hell when I get them. After a good drenching and scrubbing they are as good as new (well... not really, but at least they are cleaner :) ).

I just got my first Yaton cart, a KOF 98 which was almost insanely dirty but not a boot. Plays fine but part of me died seeing all that grime on the chips...

i got my 1st yaton cart too...

...yaton described it NEW, but obviously was not due to clear insertion marks. but it was only 21$ so nothing to get petty about, and it was not a boot, and was surprisingly clean. :emb:

Those spiders are a delicacy. Where I come from, we call that the "Yaton Special."

My "special" Money Puzzle Exchanger arrived a bit too special for me :crying:

I have mailed him about this, but it is probably not his fault, it looked like the package had been drop-kicked by a disgruntled chinese post office worker or something ;)
Obviously it was a boot, which he also told me before I paid.

Here is a picture of the pcbs

My blazing star for $22 was perfect though. It wasn't even dirty, had the original label and was 100% original :buttrock:

People who play MVS carts, and don't know what "Special" means, shouldn't be buying or playing MVS games anyway.

The MVS noobs who complain about boots, probably play Roms. :kekeke:
