Freaked games vs. Conversions

Ok, I haven't been hanging around these forums regularly for a long time, but I remember that Conversions were a big no-no in the selling forums after SNKP took over. I was wondering why is chrisr allowed to sell his Freaked shit here? That stuff is on the same level as a conversion.

Those carts aren't conversions, they just have altered artwork. And that's still a good deal for those at $25 a pop. If I still had an AES, I buy that whole top row.

Hey, I consider those carts a piece of history. Every time you look at the art, you can think back to the days of Dion and have a laugh.

Yeah, seriously. If I had AES, I'd be all over that. 25 dollar Viewpoint, and Baseball Stars 2? Sign me up.

I didn't say those Freaked games were conversions, I said they're on the same level.

I'm not making this a right vs. wrong argument. I'm just wondering why are conversions still not allowed in the sellling forums, but the Freaked games are? Freaked games don't have SNK official inserts or cart labels, and the manuals have stickers all over them, basically ruined. Yet chrisr sells them as official 'corrected' games.

Seems to me that conversions should be allowed, especially since the NEO is officially dead. Why not? chris ray can sell games as official that aren't official here at NG.com.

Just think of it as you are getting a loose Viewpoint for 25 bucks. Which is still a great price. Now I wouldn't buy from them personally, but I could understand someone wanting that deal.

You've got a point there, as long as sellers tell the buyers that the games are conversions. I just don't like surprises.

Freaked games only have different art. Converted games however are tranplanted MVS roms (and thus killing an MVS cart), which the seller can pawn off as original if they're shady enough. Simple.

Conversions kill AES games, freaked carts kill inserts.

You'd think the hard core collectors would support both. The more original stuff that's killed, the rarer their prized rare game becomes.

I know what a conversion is, so please quit trying to explain it.

Conversions are not going to be sold as originals HERE. If someone trys it they will be caught. They have fan made inserts and cart labels, and sometimes even instruction manuals, just like Freaks. I dont remember a big problem with conversion sales here before SNKP shut them down.

Simple comparison with no real answer yet, other than a handful of support for Neo Geo Freak from the n00bs. The only question here is, why can't conversions be sold in the forums when Freaks are being sold?

those $25 carts are $25 because they are freaked crap.

but sure you could take the cart out and throw the inserts away etc.

Its great, someone might re-introduce them to the market after buying from chris, and try to sell them for more.

Conversions, "freaked" carts, boots... that's all the same bullshit crap for me which should have NO place in the Neo scene in general or our selling forum.

So let's see what we can do here...

Hmmm - I know Chrisr ain;t too popular with many, but if I took an FF3, drew all over an insert in tippex, stuck a new sticker on it and tried to sell it here, would that be wrong?

What about a cart with no artwork, no sticker?

I thought conversions were allowed for sale here. They're not? I agree that it's stupid to sacrifice carts, but since they're made from official stuff, it should be okay to sell them as long as it's disclosed.
