If missing something about regions you mean the DC is region encoded, then-

Yeah, I'm sick of swapping discs to play my imports (half my games are JPN region).

You can pick up a japanese model from www.japangamestock.com for $18 which will prolly be close to what you can find a chip for if you do end up finding one.
