It's one of the 2 FF games i havent played on the neo, and RBFF is my overall fave neo game, so tell me, is there any reason why one would take this game over Real Bout?
Control differences? Music Differences? Character difs? Stage difs?

Details plz, people.

(I don't actually care on the general consensus of this game anyway, i'll buy it to complete the fatal fury homecart collection :emb: )

No, but why take Real Bout over Real Bout Special? The Garou games are all worth a play, but usually made obsolete by the next one.

FF3 doesn't have ringouts, Terry doesn't have Rising Tackle (because Power Dunk was new). The attract movie kicks ass. 'dark destiny once again outstreches its icy grip'...

There's really no reason to take one over the other.
Real Bout has a more agreable controll. But Fatal Fury 3 has more backgrounds. The music is the same with the exception of Duck King's Duck Dub Dub and Kim Kaphwan's Soul Road.

I'd say Fatal Fury 3 was the bigger challenge.
Do great-go against ChonRei
Do Okay-go against ChonShu
Do poorly, game over after Yamazaki

I've yet to go against ChonRei. :emb:

Still, 3 has a sentimental value for me, as it was my first Fatal Fury. So I supppose I'm biased.

Well, I chose ff3 over rb1. I didn't have a reason. I had never played either and I got ff3 just to see whats up. I love it. The grafx are awsome. And not only that, the Grafx are awsome! Also, you can be GEESE which is a BIG PLUS. I don't know about the rest characters though because when I can play as Geese I do play as Geese. What a PIMP. Did I mention that it has awsome GRAFX? Get FF3.

I can't comment on RB1, but we're gonna have to get both anyway aren't we.

I just gave RBS away to a friend so he could have 4 games in his cab for sale, it was fun and I want it again, but FF3 KOF98 and MOTW is enough to hold me over for now.

FF3 set the groundwork for the RB series in more ways than a predecessor does for a standard sequel; pretty much all of the music introduced in FF3 is re-used in RBFF, can't remember if there were any new characters introduced in RBFF (though I'm probably wrong), stuff like that.
RBFF, to me, feels like a re-writing of FF3.
The reason I like FF3 more than RBFF is pretty much the same reason I like SSIII over IV; SSIV didn't have that leap over III, it took all that III had, added a few minor updates and called itself a sequel. Same with RBFF, IMO.

Besides, Hon Fu's stage in FF3 is ace.

RBFF reintroduces Kim Kaphwan and Duck King.

It also reintroduced Billy Kane, not that I missed him that much...
Bah, I would forget Billy.
Not that I often make it that far. :(

Personally, I really like RBFF(mainly because of the focus on Geese). FF3 is ok, it does have some cool backgrounds, and I find it a bit more of a challenge than RBFF. But I like the ring outs and being able to play as Billy and Duck in RBFF. And hey, RBFF has the death of Geese Howard, so for that reason alone I play it more than I ever did FF3. If you can find FF3 for cheap, go for it. Otherwise I don't think it's a must have game, but that's just me.

The level of detail in just abouit every single FF3 background is better than any Fatal Fury game at all, period, I think. There is thick storyline telling in arcade mode with scenes with the charactes before and after every match, usually including some kind of cameo (Bob has Richard, Franco has his trainer, etc.).

After beating Mai with Terry, you fight Andy, and Mai is in the background crying. Come on. The music is of course top notch, it's a ridiculous challenge, and fighting Geese infront of a background that slowly burns down and falls apart is theatrical.

It's fanservicey out the ass with all the character interaction and cutscenes, not to mention the kickass opening. It's a ridiculous challenge compared to any modern day SNK game, and it has this overall feel about it that you know the developers spent a lot of time on it. I played this AFTER I had played all the Real Bout games, and I was surprised.

back in 95 this was "the game" for the neo along with kof 95. later ss3 got released too and was loving it. problem is after this era the games only improved slowly and and less in the future. besides snk failed to make quility games that were complete like this one. they made the lb series as beatifull and complete in many ways, while the FF, SS and kof seriesonly got ungrades for the better and for worse. last snk game ive seen that was really new and as complete as possible was MOTW, too bad it didnt feature more charas though. if you gowing for playebillety youdont need this over RB, if you going for the gaming experience you shouldnt miss this IMO. hard to master, little slow, especially with jumps, moves are harder to perform but i stll love it. besides the bosses rule in this game, though i only think theyre availble for the neo cd version, and mvs with dips offcourse.
