So I finally got my MVS board and starting to consolize it. I am in the Arcade stick rut. I dunno what to get. I have done searches and read reviews on a lot. I am torn between the X-arcade and the PS2 Neo stick. Not only am I going to use this on my MVS but also on my xbox,PS2, and dreamcast. I have finally discovered the world of import games in the last week and so have modded all my systems to play them. I am most excited to play KOF XI and want an arcade stick to play with but at the same time be able to use between all of my systems. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

The easiest solution is getting an X-Arcade. You have the option to use it with all current systems excluding a 360. Over time, you may want to swap the arcade parts with Happ parts. The stock X-arcade parts are crap.

If you prefer a Japanese style stick, then you will have problems. There are so many options, including the custom stick option, but thats exspensive, unless you make your own.
Personally I would get a Hori Real Arcade Pro, and get converters for it.

I hate the X-Arcade's panel layout with a passion. Too many buttons.

I'd say build your own custom sticks from the ground up.

HRAP's (1 or 2) is where it's at. Great sticks.

A friend of mine has the x-arcade sticks, stick and buttons are definitely crap.

If you really want a ps2 Neo geo stick, japanvideogames.com has some in stock (went to their store and saw a few there).

I ended up winning an ebay auction for an X-Arcade Solo. I guess I will go with X-Arcade. I plan on trying to get another solo for a second player soon. I need some advice on upgrading the sticks and buttons in them. I am not concerned with the price of the controls, I just want the best. Also is there a way to mod some extension cables so that I am not forced to buy all those expensive adapters from xarcade? I am pretty good with a solder gun! Maybe there is a site that gives the pinouts of the various system control wires. I appreciate all this guys!

Thanks,
Ryan

X arcade is Mega Crap!

I feel the heat for the flaming coming this way, but the NEO stick is kind of sucky as well.

Building your own is the only way, is not that hard, and there's tons of info on the Net about it.

Take my word for it, only buy HAPPS from HAPPS themselves, not some ebay grunt that gets your order all wrong.

Super Joystick, or COmpetition Joystick

Pushbutton with Horizontal Microswitch, or Competition Buttons

You'll have the best stick for a super reasonable price, and Neo sticks are easy as hell to do, since SNK has the greatest simple technology ever!! is amazing how everything is so accesible on the AES or MVS, is just that great!

Don't know how to make a frame, big deal, buy one of them real arcade joysticks, and toss all the parts, and put your own, you can get one for dirt.

However you could get fancy and do this

The choice is yours, but say no to X Arcade.

Neo sticks are just for completing the aura of a consolized MVS nothing more.

Custom stick is the best, and the most rewarding.
