I'm looking to get some more games for my system but had a few questions about some of the games i am wanting before I buy them because the reviews i do not think are reviewed of the CD versions of the games.

Please keep in mind I own kof 94,95,96,97, Samurai Spirits II, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, and Crossed swords.

Question 1: Last Blade(the first one), this game looks fantastic, how are the loading times? Are they comparable to kof 97 with demo cut on? The loading times on KOF 97 single battle with Demo cut is not bad at all really.

Question 2: My neo geo cd has a switch on the back to change regions, would this switch make Samurai Showdown RPG be in English or is the text Japanese regardless of the region switch.

Question 3: I love KOF 97, but i'm also thinking of picking up KOF 99, how are the loading times compared to KOF 97? Again, can you do single battle and does it have demo cut option to help with the loading?

Question 4: King of the Monsters II, the review states this game is very difficult, does the CD version have options to make the game easier, I believe the MVS version was what was reviewed on this site, but i could be wrong. I love KOM and since part 1 was not released on CD, i would have to get part 2, but I don't want something that is to hard to be fun.

Question 5: What NON FIGHTING GAME would you say is a must have for the Neo Geo CD?

Thanks guys.

First thing first. If you own a NGCD dont worry about load times because there are no "good" load times on the system, either you wait or you dont.

1. Last Blade loading times are more comparable to RB2. RB2 bascially loads everything and then you fight rounds back to back with no loading, so the initial load time is how long LB loads.

2. The text is in Japanese regardless.

3. For all the newer games the load times get longer due to the higher content.

4. Yes you can adjust the settings.

5. Baseball Stars 2.

1. It has quite a lot of loading

2. No, this game is only in japanese

3. KOF 99 has really long loading

4. No idea

5. Metal Slug, Puzzle Bobble, Windjammers...

IMO, LB1 w/ demo cut isn't too bad. Probably a little slower than KOF97 but still acceptable.

KOF99 does have demo cut / single play options so, while it's a bit slower than the older ones, it's still perfectly playable. If you can stand other load times, you can stand KOF99 too.

One of the major reasons I got into MVS is that the Last Blade and KOF games just aren't the same with all the extras turned off. I mean sure, they're still quality games but the ambience just isn't there. Even though I had a good time playing the CD versions, the whole "experience" is just better with a cartridge. Keep that in mind before you dump a lot of money into your CD rig. (Then again, I read that 100 times before I got my MVS but just had to learn the hard way. :))

If loading times really worry you then get a CDZ and keep your single speed for back-up. With a CDZ it makes a decent difference on any game from 1995 and up just about, especially fighters. This way you can enjoy the games with the demo cut off or on just faster I guess. For LB 1 + 2 and KOF 99 it makes a nice difference for me.

Some good NGCD titles to get that have decent load times and are fun for CD are Metal Slug 1 + 2, Pulstar, Twinkle Starsprites, Baseball Stars 2, Real Bout 2, and AOF 1, 2, 3 (AOF 3 has longer loading but man the music goes off for the CD version. Plus, it has some neat color edit options and gallery modes when you beat the game a certain way, I forgot what does this exactly)
