hey have you guys ever saw a big red like mine, The sides are black, (no they havent been painted etc) it was manufactured this way, its the same laminate type material that the regular big red has....Any ideas, i also included the distributer info in the pics,....? wonder if they are still in business?
i have had it for years, and sold my smaller big red on the furoms a couple years back...

just wondering if this was normal to see...I never really thought of asking before,

I feel pretty sure that the laminate is not original.

Yeah, I dont think that laminate is original either, looks too glossy in my opinion. Nice looking cab nontheless.

I was wondering what the cab would look like in black.... pretty nice I'd say. I'm lookin' to redo the red plastic on mine with possibly black or red but I dunno where to get that stuff. Anyone have any ideas where it may have come from? Also my buddy is gonna make some decals to put on the top of that made out of cut vinyl. I'd could hook you up if you want for a small fee.

Thanks for the compliments on my cab..

oh well, I will never know, i must say in person it doesnt look like it has been redone, but...I havent a clue...Like i say it is the plastic(rubber)vinyl sticker type side that covers particle board...Exact identicle stuff that is (was) on my other big red... but enough about that heres what i am wanting

I need a scetch, I need someone to take tissue paper or a large tracing paper and trace out the side art on a dedicated big red (you know the big neo geo with mvs) i did this before i sold my other cab and dont kow where the hell it went. I need this so i can do the following.....

1. take the stencil put it on poster board.
2. cut out the stencil from poster board
3. tape the poster board to side of the machine after it has letters cut out (perfectly)
4. spray a thin coat of flat white...
5. voila, I have a black sided neo geo big (BLACK) with side art just like it should be, and hey maybe it will be a one of a kind, I think it should look pretty sweet ass.

(And no i dont like the stickers used on conversions the stickers just doesnt suit me, i want the real thing, err umm sorta i guess,..
If any one is willing to tackle this all you really need is some of the thin paper like wal-mart sells to stuff in bags for gifts, thats really thin you can see through and a few pieces of tape to hold it up....

If someone wants to do this for a price let me know what you would charge.
thanks

trust me cut vinyl will not look as good as if it was sprayed on like there were made....

well thats just my 2c

if i can get what i need in my other post i may try to get a place to make these (stencils) from a thin solid plastic and have it cut with a cad or such and hello, Something for everyone to touch up the side art on there neo's

give me a few days on this, i'll snap a shot of mine then bring it into illustrator and trace it then scale it to size. In doing this, if you find a place to cut/create it i'd really like to know where.

I always stencil things (that require detail) by using reversed Vinyl lettering as an air tight stencil.

I have some thicker matte black vinyl that I use for this application. As long as you remove in 30-45 minutes it leaves no residue on the original surface.

I have a Roland vinyl cutter if anyone is ever interested in having things done just drop me a PM or an email. I cut on 24" sheets (21.5" is the max cut width), with infinite length. I have every color imagineable along with strange things like brushed metal, metalics, reflectives, etc.

what i actually need is what is left after you cut out the letters, i need the sheet

Sweet, so you can cut me two sides, left+right to the correct size, to use as a stencil i can stick them on, spray them peel them off through them away...

Let me know the price, for two left and two right in case i screw them up, believe me i can do that:lolz:

you are indeed a interesting man to know :) , i'm ignorant on this part.. the roland vinly cutter.. is that device capable of cutting the stencil or is it used to cut strips of the vinyl to be used for the stencil?

edit- oh my shitness! just checked it out the web... , you and me are gonna be great friends :)

When you cut vinyl, everything is in tact on the sheet.

To make the stencil you simply weed out the part that you want painted (generally, the opposite of the sticker you would have made).

Transfer tape is applied to the vinyl sheeting.

Stencil sheet is adhered to object to be stenciled, smoothed out with squeege, etc.

Additional tape or newspaper or whatever is then put around to cover everything else up.

The CMVS we gave away is probably the best photographed example I have on hand. The Southtown logo on the top of the console is painted on, not a sticker. It allowed us to maintain a high level of detail, and also make something durable and long lasting (a sticker can be pulled off easily, paint requires removal process).

so you guys think putting the actual cut vinyl on the cabinet would look like crap? if so what kind of paint are you using to paint on top of the red plastic stuff.

@dub ... if you happen to make the MVS sideart using vector graphics can you send me a copy? if not I understand.

if dub cuts it, i think it would lookgreat, I m just wanting mine to be factory frsh looking, Decals would be 200 times easier to take care of and install, if i move mine get the paint scratched and touch it up it would be noticable if you move one with decals scratch it just peel off replace the letter or decal....

just a matter of preferance....If your not running your hand across the side of the machine i doubt you could even tell..
