You Gotta go with Advance Wars DS. No question. I had a biology lecture last semester in which I sat in the back playing it every during every class. Its addicting.

But then again I liked them all.

I'd always ask the girl next to me for notes the day before the exam and she'd get all pissy since I obviously was'nt doing anything productive. At least not in her eyes. I thought I was ridding the digitized world of tyranny and oppression.

AW DS.

A definite contender for the best hand held game ever.

I was just playing it on the train home... Have logged over 200 hours on it now.

Grab the first two used, theyre cheap.

Its not like a WHOLE lot changed between the 3 other than the addition of new units and enemies.

Try playing some people who haven't played the DS version and whip out a Megatank, that's good fun right there.

"OMFG that thing fragged my Neotanks!"

Yes, buy the DS version. Multiplayer alone without any cables, etc makes it worth it.

If I didn't have this game, this semester would probably drive me insane.

EDIT: things I like about the DS version: 1. The top screen can be used to show more detailed information about your troops' abilities i.e. a sub is very strong against some ships/vehicle weaponry/and other things. 2. The DS version has battles on two fronts, some with one air and another on land. Switching equipment between battle fronts makes for some different strategies (plants are on the lower front).

The Megatank. Expensive, but can be devastating if you can get it into the action. Just make sure you have a transport nearby to keep the cannons stocked ;)

The GBA versions are good, for sure, but the DS version is way better.

Some additional points:

1) While using keys is fine, using the touch screen for play is much nicer once you get used to it.

2) The DS version introduces the CO tag system, which is really well implemented and affects strategies a lot.

3) A ton of COs.

4) Tons of unlockables and things to buy with the points you earn.

5) A few other new units, like aircraft carriers and pipe runners.

Combat mode sucks, but it doesn't matter as the rest of the content is excellent.

If you have a DS, then there is no comparison - AWDS is the one to get.

You can't go wrong with any of'em,but if you own a DS,then Dual Strike is definitely the one you should get.
