DS Lite screens: comparing top & bottom

Now that many of us here have a DS Lite, I'm wondering how many people noticed their bottom and top screens being different in terms of brightness and/or coloration?

Mine seem pretty even. The bottom screen is very slightly (VERY slight) tinted yellow, but it's not noticeable unless I look for it.

What has me a little perplexed though, is I held my Lite next to a demo Lite in Best Buy. Both set to brightness 4. My Lite's top screen was not as bright as the demo Lite's top screen. It even seems ever so slightly less bright than my bottom screen, but I'm not sure about that.

Anyone else's Lite that way? I don't want to return it, because it has no dead pixels and works great. But ever since comparing it to that demo system, it bugs me a little. :annoyed:

Mine is pretty bright at lvl 2, I've tried 4 and it can blind me for sure...

Regarding top & bottom, they're pretty even. And I like it that the bottom screen of my Lite is not as yellow my original DS.

mine look identical, other than the slightly different coating on the bottom screen, I assume for scratch resistance.

Also, I live at brightness 3 and can't tell any differences either.

yeah, I figure the reason for the slight "grain" to the lower screen picture is the anti scratch protection.

The main difference is the clarity of 1 screen over the other be it top vs. bottom or vise versa. REASON: DS LITE LCDs have shitty viewing angles. So to see the top nice and clear your bound to not get as crisp bottom screen.

fanboy defenses not welcome here.

thats not whats being discussed here.

The bottom screen has an anti scratch coating on it that causes two things:

A. Screen appears slightly dimmer

B. Screen appears to have a slight grain/texture to it

Since the DSL can be folded to be almost completly flat to prove its not a LCD viewing angle issue, this can easily be seen. The bottom screen just has a coating on it.

They are the same, I would say that at times either the top or bottom screens look either brighter or dimmer and that is due to the angle at which you are holding your DS Light and if the screens are more opened or closed because light is either reflected towards you or away.

They seem the same to me... As for the brightness, LV 4 is almost too bright, I think. I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to play Brain Age. Now, you know those times when you get up in the night to go to the bathroom, and you turn on the light in the bathroom, and it feels like it blinds you? That's what it was like...

basically tilting the screen the slightest messes with the clarity of the image on the screen. To see the blackest blacks on the top, you will have lighter blacks on the bottom and vice versa. The 2 screens will never produce an equally clear/crisp image simultaneosly.
