Just wondering if there are any good shooters. (when shooters were shooters and not FPS shit).

as far as side-scrolling action:
Castlevania and New SMB is at the top of the list?

As far as I know, Nanostray alone occupies the list. And that game isn't so good... Are there any JP shooters, I wonder?

don't forget Space Invaders

:kekeke:

I think the system is great for the Tate setup

It's be awesome to have autofire and use the stylus to dodge bullets

but seeing bullets coming from the top screen would probably be a bitch

regardless, I'd still like to see it happen

My fantasy is that Treasure goes DS crazy, and makes 3 or 4 mindblowing games on the DS, including a vertical shmup using both screens.

The others... well, would love to see more like Astroboy. :) And a port of Sin & Punishment would be nice.

I actually quite like Nanostray. It's not for someone who's big on the more modern manic shooters, but it's good fun and looks really nice.

Agreed. you can get for fairly cheap these days and it's worth it. It might not be as deep as some other shooter but it's definately fun.

Has anyone played Point Blank for the DS? I saw this at Fry's and I was wondering how it played.

I didn't even know it was out. I could see it being fun... But then again, it may just feel like whack a mole on DS...

Rented it recently and was pleasantly suprised by it. Tapping with the stylus simulates a light gun amazingly well. It supposedly has many of the stages from the 3 games. Some of those stages are stupid hard, while others are enjoyable and easy. I'd buy it for $12-15.

Yeam Point Blank DS is good in my books. I've got 1-3 on PS1 and I love them. If you're a fan, it's a must get. If not, then it's still a good pick up, but it's not an "OMG GET IT RIGHT NOW" kinda thing.

Point Blank is mindless fun like its always been. I picked it up for like $24 shipped and was well worth it. Its nothing thats gonna grab your attention for hours but something you can enjoy for 10 minutes, put down and come back to it a few days later and still have fun.

I'm starting to think it's one broken ass game. On some of the brain challenges it's easy to get 30 targets over the quota, while other stages require you to practically get perfects to pass. :lolz:

Heh, nah, that's Point Blank for you. To me, it's almost expected, especially on the harder difficulty levels of the Arcade mode.

I really like PB, so having this on the go is a riot. My minor complaint: I wished it had more elements from 3 (or hell, it could have been just a port of 3 with the brain training add-on, as 3 is perfect).

If your talking Shmup's then Raid over the River loox to be something of a contender. The backgrounds are amazing and def show the potential of the DS.

The DS has been crying out for a vertical shooter that utilises both screens.

That tech demo looks awesome.

Yeah, I've got my shooter portable shooter fix covered pretty well now... I still wish DS would develop as a good platform for shooters though...
