Since AES is expensive for the games I'm after I'm thinking of building a consoleised MVS system. I've pondered going for the UNIBIOS but I don't fancy having to set it to home mode every time I power it up (without a memory card), so I was thinking of swapping the MVS BIOS for an AES.

What I'm looking for then is someone who's replaced their home system's BIOS with the UNIBIOS and has still got the old BIOS. A USA or European one would be ideal since I'd like to play in English (I'm really not fussed about censorship).

Anybody who could help please PM me or reply here. Thanks muchly!

You can' t use the AES bios in your MVS board.

The UNI-BIOS is the only one that supports MVS and AES, hence the name :)

On MVS, the UNI-BIOS stores the bios settings in the MVS's battery backed up RAM, so you don't need a memory card to remember settings for an MVS board. At least that's what I read once -- never looked.

If you have to set the region every time you power up using the Unibios, your battery backup is dead.

Ah, my bad, I thought it required the memory card to save settings. I assume swapping a dead backup battery is a relatively straightforward task?

Yes, just be sure to use a heatsink when you solder the battery's leads to the board.
