Japanese or US ???

Not to be a bother, But.....In My weary pursuit of that Holy Grail that is called Neo Geo Home System, I have stumbled upon a dilemma. Half the people say a Japanese system is "rarer", and vice-versa. So, I ask You..The experts--Is there really a difference(besides the censoring), or do these people just wanna unload "Their" system ??

I don't know... I think it's personal preference really. I used to be into the English games until I seen the "Collections" section on neo-geo.com. I really dig shelves of Japanese kanji on the side of the box. I know it's superficial but...

Basically is the blood problem, but sometimes there are missing frames of animations, missing moves, which are considered too violent for the western public (i.e. Last Blade 2), or boobs' problems (Mai in KoF series).

The japanese cart system also fits the Phantom-1 converter into the slot rows better than the US for some reason- something to think about if you plan on using MVS games too.

Yeah by the way is there any trick to open up the blood option on other titles without jap/modded machines?

You know, I try to be careful with that, but I think context is important and in this type of case it's obvious that it wasn't used as a racial slur.

I have to point out though that i dont beleave there is gonna be any people on this board that is racist against japan for the simple reason that this is a neo geo board!,i find it highly unlikely put it that way.

When I got my Neo I coulda either had a Japanese or English one.. I wanted an English one and I'm happy I did. I'm toying with the idea of getting my Neo turned into a Superneo and then I could have red blood with US language I believe... Regardless I'm happy with my US Neo, I just like being able to read the text. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I own two Neo Geos right now. Both Japanese and US. I wouldn't be in this situation if it wasn't for Buy Rite, but I've told the story too many times. Right now, I'm getting my US system repaired. It just got debug and gold plated A/V plugs installed and I'm gonna replace the cart slots for a clear picture. A board member told me to cut my losses and sell the US system, but for some reason, I really want to keep it and sell my Japanese system. Call me crazy, but I've wanted to have a US system from the beginning and it's just so cool to have the box for the US system as well. <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0"> It has a sticker saying Baseball Stars Professional Included, but I don't have that game. <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> But I should be getting it from Arcade! soon! <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I have KOF 94-2000 BUT,Alas! 94 US(Case Cover in leather i suppose) the rest all JAP(Plastic cover with latch)!
i'm thinking of getting it here but worry about the transaction n deliver service.

The US system is much more rare than the Japanese, so whoever told you otherwise was wrong. If you want the blood and want to understand what you're playing, then get a modded US system.

Well, since I really couldn`t decide...I got a Japanese model, and a modded U.S. model. I must admit, I mainly play the modded U.S.; the JPN`s wrapped and stored away. I only bring it out about twice a week, to grab a quick sniff & grope!! <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
