I thought I'd start a topic regarding our better halves who actually play Neo-geo with us or by themselves.

The question is simple.. do they?

My missus is really into Neo Turf Masters, whenever she comes over to visit she always asks to play it. I've even caught her humming the music.

So I decided to show her screens of the other games available and she loved the look of the animated games, especially the puzzless.. Neo Mr. Do, Magical Drop, etc and wants me to get some of these games. Perhaps she'll chip in some cash..

I now don't feel as guilty playing the Neo when she's over.:emb:

Nah, my girlfriend thought Magical Drop 3 was boring (though I was going so freaking easy on her she could have beaten me). She does love the Metal Gear series (watching it anyway, since she doesn't play it). And she'll play Tetris.

My fiancee is actually the one who kick started my Neo Geo collecting. She usually just plays Puzzle Bobble, but lately has been trying more games, and become a force to be reckoned with using Cham Cham in SSII and Vanessa in KoF 2001. I swear it's the cutest thing when she gets into playing games on the MVS cab, because she actually starts rocking around the cabinet and weaving like a maniac, and I dont even think she notices.

I have Matrimelee for the AES on the way, and have been eyeing up Puzzle de Pon (which she loved on mame a long while back), so I'm sure if I keep slipping her the sugary sweet side of the Geo she'll be fully converted in no time. :chimp:

Nope the girlfriend HATES neo-geo/ arcade related stuff. She does however like the DS, especially Nintendogs.

I bought Magical Drop 3 for my girl. She looked at it and said "Hon, this looks like a piece of shit cell phone game. Actually, the one on my cell phone looks better" .....

She does however live for Katamari, can barely peel the PS2/PSP from her hands until she finds EVERY SINGLE present and cousin.

She is also nuts about any Zelda or Mario game. In the past 1.5-2 years she has beat Windwaker, 4 Swords, Paper Mario 1, Paper Mario 2, New Super Mario Bros., Minish Cap, Link to the Past, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi Partners in Time.

Yesterday Mr. Driller 2 PCB came in the mail. I put it on the cab and she said "Oh I like this game I used to play it on Dreamcast" so who knows...maybe its just something about Neo that girls don't like?

my girlfriend has given mixed results with neo stuff. she really likes spinmaster, and loves fighting games but until i can pick up a neo geo cd pad, the old and the new style sticks are too large for her hands and she gets really frustrated when she cant master a move when im trying to teach her how to play kizuna encounter or something similar.
the huge dissapointment so far has been getting magical drop 2 after hyping it to her about how awesome it was and how she would love it, and then she ends up hating it. WTF! puzzle games are what shes great at, but she cant even begin to chain a combo in magical drop because she moves too damn slow.... i think a neo geo cd pad would solve alot of this too.

My wife plays with my NeoPocket more often then Neo. Then again, I haven't played Neo often lately. However we did play Windjammers and Blazing Star. (Edit) Oops, forgot, also Zupapa, Cyberlip, Top Hunter and Slug 2.

At the moment she's busy hogging my DS and Brain Age. :P

She didn't like them at first but now i've got her into playing 97, 02, and coliseum. That's good enough for me.

Mine doesn't play anything. I recently gave her my GBA SP after covering it with a Hello Kitty skin and loading it with girly-roms. So she has been playing a little Barbie: Secret Agent.....its a start.

No.

But I think I like it that way. She balances me out, so I don't lose my coolness.

Quoted for truth...

mine will play BAM on ocassion (like a few rounds every couple of months), but my 9 year old and my 11 year old love it. if i am on it with them home, it quickly switches from 1p to 2p.

Well, for me and my wife, she'll play the puzzle game here or there, but nothing much. She really like Super Puzzle Fighter 2, so that was cool. Although she seems hooked on Tetris for my cell phone. That's right, not Tetris DS or even a console Tetris, she likes Tetris for the good old cell phone. Not sure why, but it seems to work for her. Oh well, we share many things in common, but video games are not one of them.
