I'll arrange a group buy if anyone is interested.

It'll be $190 a piece for the MK2 revision. If you want priority shipping on it, it'll be a little more to cover it.

Edit: If we can get 10 or more people to purchase, we can get the rate cut down, I've looked at a couple of sites for details.

I'd ask everything be paid by Paypal (preferred, not a requirement) UP FRONT. I will not work out "deals" or payment plans.

Play-Asia sells the MK2 at $156 if you buy 10+ units.

Hmmm let me know if you end up going through play asia. If I can get one for a little less than $190, I'll probably get one.

Keep me posted.
Peace,
Bill

Am I missing something or is $190 higher then the MSRP. Play-Asia has it for $170.

Yeah, shipping from over there and to your house. I'm not going to eat the shipping price.

I'm not looking to make any money, just bulk buy them.

Any chance you could get the MK1 too?

(the 2nd revision, not the "First Edition" ones)

I've been interested in picking one up.

But as it stands now, I can snag one from Play-Asia for $190 total myself.

It would be great to save a few bucks if we could a wholesale thing, but I've searched their site and I couldn't find out exactly how much we'd end up saving if we bought them in bulk.

May have to contact them personally to find out, but if it's worth the venture, I'd certainly hold off on buying one to save a few bucks.

I'd be up for this, but I don't have the money now. I'll have it soon, though. Even if it's $5 less after all is said and done, that'd be worth it. Man, what good timing, VT, since I'm saving up for one right now.

With any bit of luck, we can get more than a $5 knockoff.

VT, play-asia quotes me as follows for 10 units. Sign up for play-asia's affiliate discount program and the items with bulk discount show it.

$1560 for 10 units
$84 UPS shipping to me

Divide that by ten and you get $164.40+shipping from me to individual buyer

I'd go with that if I were you. I wish I could afford one at the moment, maybe by the time this thing gets going I will be able to.

I don't know about this. You can get a brand new GP2X MK2 shipped directly to you in the USA from Play-Asia for around $190. Why would I go through the hassle of sending a paypal payment and waiting for it to be shipped to someone's house, to then be shipped to my house to possibly save 5 bucks? For that $5 I'd rather be eligable for my 1 year warranty by having my name on the reciept... :spock:

edit: I'm not trying to spoil the concept of a group order, I just want to make sure that the discount will be worth while. I'm seriously interested in picking one of these up sometime in the next few weeks and I'll gladly support the group order if it will help everyone and myself snag a good deal, but you have to consider the PayPal fees that we will need to pay Mr. Thunder on top of the console/shipping cost. If we come close to breaking even we might as well buy them individually at our convenience.

Looks to me you'll be saving $30 or so, which looks good to me, although I'll have to pass until I get the money to be able to get one of these.

Yeah, I guess it would be like $25 off with an estimated $165 a unit + $5 shipping + 3% paypal fees. You're still left without a warranty unless it arrives DOA and you have to pay to send it back to Vanilla Thunder/Play-Asia. It appears that these units can be shoddy, it is a small company in Korea making a portable console for a small market. From what I've heard 1/10 of the older MK1 units were defective. At least with the MK2 units they have an entirely new *working* joystick design/internals, brighter screen with a higher refresh rate so it doesn't flicker during overclocking, and you don't have to assemble the screen yourself!! As cool as it is having an MK1 that natively displays scanlines, I'd rather go for the higher quality of manufacture and shoot for an MK2 and manually turn on scanlines through the Emu's script once it becomes supported if it isn't already.
