what's up guys. This is my first post but I've been trolling the boards for a llittle while now. I've wanted a MVS for quite sometime and just picked up a 4-slot cab with 4 games at a classic gaming convention in my area. It was originally priced at $600.00 and we got him to drop down to $550 (no tax). the cab is definately a little worn but nothing too terrible I don't think. The games included are
1) Samurai Showdown IV
2) Ninja Combat
3) Puzzle bobble
4) art of fighting one

I know I've seen alot of threads asking if people got a good deal or not and it's probably pretty annoying.... but ;) .... what do you guys think?

also does anyone make or sell decals for the side to get them back to mint condition? My buddy has a vinyl cutter at work but I dunno if it's big enough to do the side of this beast. also I need a new lock for the front since I don't have a key for mine. I don't plan on putting it up in a business but I want everything to work and look like it did originally.

I think you got a great deal. I got my conversion cab for $500cdn. It had an mv1 fz and it was pretty beat up. AFter a little bit of TLC it is quite the mean machine.
As for side art : www.arcadeshock.com had some a while ago. If your lucky you can get some there.

Congrats

I payed 350 for mine, which came with 4 games (including Viewpoint which I just sold for 105), but hey, it really depends on how desperate you are. I waited months before this one popped up

hey thanks for the replies guys.... it sucks that I prolly overpaid but I'll get better at learning what things are worth with time. I'm glad to know approximately what everything is worth. the main thing for me was getting an MVS that I didn't have to ship. I knew enough that MVS carts were easier to come by than AES and would be cheaper in the long run so I really wanted a cabinet. This'll be my second cabinet. I also picked up a Mortal Kombat II cab in 2001 for $600.00. dedicated cabinet near mint condition. Now I just need to find some KOF games and I'll be set for months! :lolz:

i think you did ok, sure you can always get a "better" deal but i dont think 550 was excessive or anything. you got a 4 slot neo with 4 games and 25" monitor... you sir are on your way :)

I don't think that you over paid. I'd say $400-$500 for a big red with a good monitor is a good price. Cool that you got 4 games to start out. There was a 6 slot that sold for about 275 (after commission) at the last superauction. But it had a crap monitor and that takes a couple hundred to replace.

I think you got a great deal. Just last month I got my 4 slot for 611 USD and the only game that came with it was Fatal Fury! The thing is, my fiancee and I actually both dreamt of getting one, the next day I searched on Ebay and the first result was right in my town. Worked out great because I drove like two miles to get the cab, so transportation was fine and shipping was zill. It's in really good shape though aside from some rust on the front of the CP.

Anyone got any idea what kind of paint to use to restore my CP?

Anyway, great find indeed. Good luck adding to your MVS collection. :)

yeah not bad at all considering that it was in town. Some people pay hundreds just to have a cab shipped to their house. I payed over $50 on gas just for my truck when I went to the superauction on last Sat anyway. I'd love to see pics if you have any.

Rustoleum(sp) Black gloss. Make sure you sand it down good.

yeah the monitor seems to be rockin' out so far. I was told that it was recently recapped so theoretically I shouldn't have to mess with it for a while. I really wanted a six slot but I have never seen one of those in real life. At the convention they had 2 MVS 4-slot cabs and I took the better of the two. There was also a TMNT 4 player absolutely mint. New sideart all the way around, recapped monitor, perfect controls etc. He wanted $850.00 for that but I wasn't sure how much those were supposed to cost so I laid off. That and I really couldn't afford to buy two cabinets at the same time.

Anyway I'd be interested in seeing pics of your setups. I'll prolly take some more after I get the MVS back at my place. I dropped it off at a buddies house temporarily because I didn't know if my roommate was gonna pitch a fit if I brought another arcade in the house or not :D

A mint 4 player cab should go for 450- $600 tops. The pcb is common but not a mint factory cab

Some people just want to make their money back on what they put into it. Prices just tend to vary depending on where you live. Sure a candy cab might cost less than $500 in CA, but think how much it costs to import it to IL. People are really wanting what they got out of it. Meh there was a Captain America and the avengers cab that I should have picked up if it would have fit in the truck. It was only $200

I should have pics up in the near future, I dont have a digital, and my friend took some grainy as hell cellphone pics of it but I plan on getting my collection + cab shot sometime in the next few days.

Thanks again Xian for the info on the rustoleum paint. I'll have to give that a shot later in the week when I have more time. I want to put some serious time into refinishing this cab in the near future. The cp is the only thing that I really find unattractive, thankfully the sides and front of the cab are still really bright and in good condition, but the nasty drill holes where the lock was on the cab, some moulding that sticks up a bit in one side, and a scuff next to the coinbox really make me want to get this thing shining again.

Another stupid question though, I have some rust on my sticks. Not a lot, but enough that it bothers me, is this a common issue with metal joysticks, and is there a good way to clean them up? I'm not really experienced with soldering and dont feel a strong desire to dissamble my cab or replace the sticks, any helpful hints are appreciated.

Thanks again guys.

that's good to know... eventually I would like to pick up a TMNT cab and a Lethal Enforcers cab and I should be set... Any more than that and space will become an issue
