Hi All,

Very new to the MVS scene.

Picked up a 6-slot on Ebay with 7 Carts for £50, and I'm ready to stick it in my cab.

I have done a search on here (without much luck) as I am worried about powering the badboy.

I read about some extra power connectors, but I could only find a picture for a 4 slot.

I also have a 2nd 6-slot on which the battery has leaked. The chip nearest it (LS05) is corroded, and I could replace it, but can't source a chip in the UK. Any ideas?

Finally, Any ideas for a box to store these bastards in. Can't find anything big enough.

Cheers All,

John

???

Is that a Neo Geo cab? If so, it should just hook up.
Did you check the hardmvs web site?

You should probably clean the corroded board to prevent further damage.

Did you do a yahoo or google search for the chip? Are there electronic parts stores in your area?

Box for the boards or the carts?

For carts get shock boxes.

Don't worry about the extra connectors.
Just make sure that you use all of the available +5v and GND rails on the edge connector.

If you are not able to source, PM me.

I have a stash of 74LS05s here.

Have you tried Maplin.

Hi all,

Cab is a standard Jamma Cab, which has all the power connectors installed & running correctly.

I was after a box for the 6-slot. I just got a load of shockboxes & artwork from Southtown.

Maplin's don't seem to stock LS05's, but if I have no further luck I may be PM'ing you.

Oh,

One last question.

What is JP1 for? It looks like a power connector to me, right next to a chunky capacitor.

Cheers

Hard to find in the UK, yet I have a heap in the jungles of PNG :kekeke:

It is a connector to link the top and bottom boards together (ground and 5 volts) some boards do not have it fitted. Its not essential but probably a good idea to connect.

OK,

Managed to find some LS05's, Mapin On-line Catalogue is shite. Went instore& got the last ones.

Well, that's another project, back to the working unit...

I will probably not attach JP1 just yet, as my MVS seems to be running OK without it.

I still have issues though...

The main one is getting the carts to register & run in the system.

It is taking me about 30-60 minutes to set the system up, as I have to start with one cart, fiddle with it to get it working, then add another cart until the board is full.

Are there any tips for insertion & position of the carts in the slots.

Finally, what is the microswitch for which is connected to the battery?

Cheers again

John
