Has anyone else burned a Universe Bios before?

Hmn... I'm looking to download the old version of the bios. My question is if the bios in my board is proprietary, or easily found.

Also, another option I could go is writing to that chip without removing it? but I question how risky doing so is. I'd hate to mess my chip up.

The Toshiba chip is the bios chip right?

This is a pic of my board http://www.obot64.com/DSC03014.JPG

Just buy one from Raz or Southtown. Registered versions get free upgrades, you just have to cover shipping fees which is around 5 euros.

Yes, that's it and no, you can't reprogram the original one. It looks like yours is socketed so you can just remove the old one and drop in the replacement EPROM you burned.

But really, just buy it. It's cheap and you'll be supporting future development (not to mention the free upgrades).

Yeah, I bought my first two from Raz, but I update them myself now.

My 1F had a mask rom BIOS in it, just like yours.

obot64, like already said you cannot reprogram the original Bios, you will need to get a blank EPROM (27C1024) if you are going to program one yourself.
