I'm in the market for a 2gb one, they are in ebay for less than 60$ shipped, but I'm just in the situation "too good to be true".... :spock:

Not trying to piss on your thread or anything but you can get the official ones on ebay for about the same price. Of course you have to wait for them in the mail.
I ordered 2 from this guy

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZleoluo729QQhtZ-1

One for the PSP, one for the my new Cyber-shot DSC-N1 :)

No biggie, I posted this for those like me who just wanted to get it now with out the wait or for those just looking for a good deal. Hell I just put 69 mp3's on my card( 703mb left ) and I'm not even sure if I'll even listen to most of them. I think I may have bitten off more then I can chew with a 1 gig but at the price I got it I've got nothing to be made at.

Me thinks I may need to hit up my big box of cd's I haven't touched in a llllllllloooooonnnnnnnnggggggggg time.

They're fakes on eBay, without doubt.

That's not to say they won't do the job, they just aren't as high quality as the proper ones. There are some cases of fake cards that have been formatted in a way that makes windows think that the capacity is much higher than it actually is, but I think these are rare.

I just bought a 2gig Sony High Speed from eBay here in the UK. The only way you can actually tell it's fake is by the heat seal on the packet. Official Sony ones use staple-shaped heat-seals, whereas the fakes use circular glue dots.

They're probably made in the same factory anyway...

The fakes are getting quite "real" these days.... it's scary, there was a period here in Singapore where offical stores carried the fake ones..

I've heard reports of UK shop CEX selling fake 2 gig Pro-Duos for a hefty £80. Presumably they have no idea...

To be honest though, if the price is too good to be true, then it is actually too good to be true...

Some of these shops gets "advanced" stocks from shady dealers. Like GBA games and accs, I spotted a few reputable shops selling fakes and they had no idea....

But with the Memory sticks duo pro prices dropping... one can never know huh...

It makes it alot harder to shop online for these products these days.

The same prob with the bootleg Sony vaults....

It was said that the memory stick will show a 1.8+gb memory space when plugged into a computer or device. But when you actually tries to move files in it, it stores less than 1gb worth of data. Then after a while it will cease to work. This make it very hard to authenticate at first look.

So... it was recommended to bring a laptop and copy files of its maximum capacity into the memory stick to authenticate... but that takes time.. doesn't it? :spock:

Do you have a ad or some sort of online link to show this?

Well, I went to the Office Max website to check and see if they had it online. I couldn't find it. Office Max doesn't even carry Scandisk online. So, I went to my local Office Max, and they don't even carry Scandisck. So I checked and there weren't even any 1 gig duo cards close to $34.99. So, I went to Office Depot, and they did have Scanfisk brand, but their 1 gig was $69.99. So any help would be much appreciated as nowhere on the Office Max website or at the stroe do they have that.

It's alright, I did a little digging and found out it was at Office Depot (not Office Max) and they were sold out at both places. Oh well, my 512 card is good enough for now.

Yea, seriously, I get them confused all the time. My sister even used to work at one, and I'd find myself at the other store asking to talk to her and the workers gave me a WTF face.

I just got back from Best Buy and they have Sandisk brand 512 cards for $19.99. Not too shabby considering that their 256 cards are $34.99 and their 1gig cards are 59.99:spock:
