Ways To Give SNK Characters More Exposure?

A few weeks ago, I saw the video for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I noticed that towards the end of the trailer, Solid Snake made an appearance. That got me to thinking: how could SNK's various (and numerous) characters gain more mainstream exposure? These are a few ideas I came up with (most of which will probably never happen, and for good reason):

-Make Athena a hidden character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (hey, if it worked for Solid Snake...)

-Have Ralf, Clark, and Leona show up on G.I. Joe Sigma 6 (they could be called Bazooka, Roadblock and Cover Girl, respectively).

-Make a series of Metal Slug action figures and vehicles (no super-deformed figures, please).

-Have a professional rapper appear in KOF: Maximum Impact 3 (hey, if 50 Cent: Bulletproof sold over a million copies, odds are this idea could help the KOF franchise greatly in the U.S.).

Feel free to add your own ideas (no matter how bold they sound).

Make Terry Bogard black, shorten his name to 'T-Bo' from the "Raw 'hood of Southtown, LA", and remove all of his moves and just give him a gun.

Put an SNK character in a national magazine ad, i guess

Make Rocket Nigger playable in MI3

Make a "best of SNK" range of capsule collectable toy things and get them in Burger King or get them in gumball machine things in big american malls

The metal slug figs is a good idea, all looking similar to KOF00 Fio would be nice

Make another CVS/SVC fighter (CFC isnt really super mainstream now is it :()

Pay halle berry to tattoo an SNK character on her ass

"."...Lucy Pinder...."..................................."....tits.."...... "

Making a good fucking game for a change

Just a few ideas...

They do have them. But they are either sold only in Korea or Japan. And even then they are rare enough that you won't be seeing them unless you try real hard.

PVC (?) figure of Metal Slug - Whether it's custom-made or collector's figure, I do not know

PVC figure of Metal Slug (it's very tiny) - Have no idea where it's made from, (China is a good guess) but I have one. Will post more pics if anyone wants some

SNKP's official chibi figure of Eri (there are three more figures of Marco, Fio, and Tarma based on this picture, which is the official 2004 Metal Slug calendar)

PVC figure of Metal Slug - used to be sold only in Korea, but the manufacturer went kaput few months ago, so I doubt that this thing can be purchased any longer

No, No, No, and No! Let's just keep the franchise where it is.

Mmm, it's a little interesting to note that although KOF, Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown, etc. are fairly popular series amongst gamer crowds and the like, SNK hasn't really milked any of it's franchises for all their worth (read: Megaman). I mean, all I can think of off the top of my head as spin off games are the Dating Sims for cellphones, the Cardfighter series, the SSRPG for NGCD/Saturn/PSX, and that KOF party game for NGP. Oh yeah, and KOF kyo, I suppose.

If SNK was a bit smarter (or richer?) they should expand into other genres, maybe on handheld first, if they wanted to minimize development costs, and flex their 2d capabilities. There could be a Hattori Hanzo Strider/Ninja Gaiden-like side scroller, or a maybe a new puzzle game featuring the Cool Cool Toon characters, or how about a new Crystalis RPG?

They could also try their hand at anime--I'm pretty sure that the KOF anime thing for MI2, although pretty lousy, was probably popular enough to warrant a serious look into animation. A Samurai Shodown anime, set in the vein of Ninja Scroll, or maybe Samurai Champloo, would rock my socks (so long they emphasize te atmosphere that defines SS). I'd also like to see an officially endorsed SNK Fatal Fury anime, with Terry more as the manly man he is in the games, instead the pussy whiny boy he seems to be in the movies.

Wow man, your ideas blow. Blow chunks, at that. I guess there's a reason why gaming companies never take the ideas of their fans too seriously. :annoyed:

I usually have pins/badges and such to advertise.

Hell, people always ask about the tattoos on my wrists (one's KoF-inspired and the other's Guilty Gear), and I'll tell them straight up where they came from.

So SNK gets free advertising from me. :D

As Marvel Comics Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada once said, "If I listened to every fanboy on the message boards, I'd be out of business."
I only mentioned these ideas as ways to help SNK Playmore "build some serious capital" (translation: make a lot of money). That, in turn, would help them to fund some bold new projects (as opposed to remaining in stagnation). As far as I know (as of right now), all we're getting are KOF Maximum Impact 2, Metal Slug Anthology (for PSP and WII), and SvC: CFC (DS). Granted, it isn't much, but at least it's a start.

Piratero, that "rapper-in-a-KOF-game" idea should be used by SNK Playmore ONLY as a "last-ditch, backs against the wall, all or nothing, defcon 5, priority one, category 5, last resort nuclear option". Granted, it would probably ruin SNK's hardcore reputation (much like every Sonic game after Sonic Adventure 2, except for the GBA-exclusives), but if it's a matter of financial survival, they just might (but hopefully never will) do it. The day they do that is the day I jump ship.

SNK just needs to make better games, that's all.

If you meant "marketing" tricks, that's prett easy: cool advertizing on MTV and several 5-star "parties" wich involves celebrities like... heck, Paris Hilton (LIGHTNING STRIKES!)

That should be more than enough...
