Day: June 2nd
Theatre: Lagoon Theatre, Uptown (Linky)
Time: 10pm

Good news folks, District B-13 is coming to the Lagoon in Uptown. I'm hyped on this flick so I'm making an early roll call. This may be a good time to hit Chino-Latino again, I dunno. I refuse to miss this movie. Now whom else is interested?

A Scanner Darkly.

Me too.

Still, you should consider coming down to the big bad Minneapple --if but for Chino alone.

Do they put worms in their tequilla? Do they have the arcade version of Samba De Amigo?

I'm spoiled by parking lots and 30 minute drives to get everywhere. :crying: For the record, I used to hang out in Uptown once in a while when I lived in Bloomy.

What did I just watch?!

Are you kidding? The trailer looked completely asinine, juvenile, and over the top. No person with the slightest bit of taste in quality cinema would be caught dead watching.... stuff like that.

I'm disappointed in all of you.

Having said that, is a friday show good for you?:D

OH!, and when is A Scanner Darkly su'posta be released?

We're definitely doing Chino beforehand. Kiel can make up for missing last time. Let's set some times. I can try and make reservations so we don't go through hell.

Officially, July 7, 2006

I don't know whether that's wide release or not. Regardless, it'll be Uptown or Lagoon 'cause they're the ones running the trailer (and its "weirdness" would likely scare the normals from seeing it at the local megloplex).

I get an 80% discount at Chino, and any Parasole establishment.

It might be wide release - I saw the trailer with Art School Confidential, and that was in backwoods Elk River country.

You are all just a bunch of haters  Must you always see movies on the day they come out?

Actually, sometimes it can be both --in the sense that the Landmark theater chain (Lagoon, Uptown plus many others) will get the release for within the city limits (and probably only exclusive rights for a few weeks); but outside of the city another theater chain (like as far as Elk River) can get it as well (if they're interested). Cool that your theaters out there are.

Oh yeah?

Of the Parasole gigs, the quality of food drops like a bowling ball at Chino. Just horrid when compared to places such as Muffuletta, Manny's, or Salute.

Update

The only late times are 7:40pm and 10pm.

I say we take our time at Chino's and shoot for the 10pm showtime.

Objections?

Sounds great. Let's plan dinner for 8pm because time flies like flied rice at Chino.

Any objections? I'll make the reservation this afternoon.

I think making reservations for 6 would be safe. That way if we have 5 or 7 it's not a major issue. I'll PM Tung Fu Ru since he can't normally make Thursdays but I don't know if its the same for Fridays.

I talked to Alex earlier in the day and he's in for sure.

Also Alyssa might come so make the reservation for 8 if you can.

Well, now there's no room at the inn (booked until 9:30) with only spaces for 2 or so before that. I think they take walk-ins but there's no way 6-8 could work.

Sorry, Chino's out.

BUT --I strongly suggest Zeno, which is nearby on the corner of Lagoon and Hennepin. It is one of my favorite restaurants, and is reasonably priced on salads and entrees. It's actually a wine/dessert/coffee bar as well. It usually isn't too bad to get a place and I they have tables that seat 8. It's 1st come, 1st served --So same bat time, nearby bat channel ;)

No Chino? NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo....

...damn it! I had my heart set. :mad_2: :crying:

Pity. Oh well, I guess this presents yet another chance to try something new in the Zeno Cafe. Onward!

Hmm, I see they have a nice selection of panini, quesadillas and flatbread. All is not lost. Split a turkish fig, anyone?
