I've recently been considering buying a wonderswan color console on ebay and was wondering if anyone here could give me some reccomendations for some games that are enjoyable for someone who doesnt understand japanese.
im open to pretty much any type of game as long as i can play it and enjoy it. id love to play a game like the final fantasy games they have on wonderswan but im sure those are all japanese and dont have an english text option.

also if anyone here has wonderswan stuff for sale tell me what you have an i might be interested in buying it from you.

thanks

Although not in color, Magical Drop and Puyo Puyo Tsu are very fun and playable without knowing the language.

oh cool! i had no idea magical drop had a wonderswan release.

i assume it works the same way the game boy/game boy color and ngp/ngpc worked in that you can play a black and white cart on a color system right?

Black and white games, but awesome nonetheless: Rockman and Forte, Klonoa and Crazy Climber...Crazy Climber is easily my favorite game on the Wonderswan...

I don't know much about this system.

Is it any good? Worth owning?

How does it stack up against the NGPC/GBA?

The puzzle games are generally easy to figure out, and Gunpey in particular is highly-rated.

I understand Front Mission has mostly English game text, but I haven't actually managed to start it yet.

I still prefer the Color to the SwanCrystal personally, the Crystal just doesn't have the looks.

Gunpey++

The color version can also be found boxed with FF I for cheap, if you look on eBay, and I've asked XX about using his kit on swans. I also miss the swan, haven't played on in some time.

i have been looking at hi-res pictures of both the WSC and swancrystal today and am leaning towards the WSC in the looks department. i dunno it seems they made it less streamlined with the swancrystal. are the screen improvements really that big of a deal? its not like they went from non-backlight to backlight or something

I do prefer the Crystal myself it just seems sharper to me. As to Wizardry it's all Jap and pretty difficult to figure out, at least for me. Most good stuff has been mentioned already but definately pick up the puzzlers they are really good, and the Golden Axe port is amazing. Most of the RPG's a tough to figure out but if you want to put the time into one, go with Wild Card. It's a Square RPG Swan exclusive and I've sunk plenty of time into it.

+1 on the Mr. Driller, much fun to be had there. I also recommend the Ultraman game. It can get a little frustrating at times and there is a bit of Japanese dialogue, but it's pretty fun and you'll get along fine without knowing the language. I tried playing FF 2 with a walkthrough and still found it very frustrating. That screen makes it look gorgeous, though.

That's their current street price in Japan. Import shops will most likely overcharge you though. I got mine brand-new for $10 from a friend who went to Japan. That's probably the only way you'll get it at that price.

got a few more games incoming (im going to have two copies of one piece battle coloseum thanks to me purchasing it alone and then buying a package that also had a copy of the game, so ill be selling one of them)

anyways im just curious about the game Run=Dim, i cant find any information on it at all. is it a shooter or what? i also wondered if that gundam operation UC game was any good since this system seems custom made for a shooter but operation UC looks pretty crappy as far as shooters go

I bought a boxed complete WS Color from someone on these boards for 5$ plus shipping. I still don't have any games though, so it just sits there. I'd really like to pick one up, just to see how the thing plays.Anyone got any games for sale?

Judgement Silversword isn't that hard to find in Japan -- i've seen 6 or 7 new copies in the past few weeks, still selling at 7100yen or so. I've been meaning to get it, but...

The REAL hard game to find is Dicing Knight, which is the last game released on the system. I've only ever seen it 2x, both times used at around $150ish.

It's also more common to find a new SwanCrystal in the $20 range -- expecting to consistently find it in the $10 range is wishful thinking. An unboxed WSC can be found for that quite consistently.

I like the puzzlers the best on my SwanCrystal -- I spend alot of time on Gunpey EX and Mr. Driller. Wonder Classic is a nice golf game, too -- if you're into that sort of thing. There's plenty of good RPG fun for those who read Japanese. I also enjoy playing Guilty Gear Petit.
