Metal Slug 2 lag?

I just got metal slug 2 in today and I noticed that the game lags terribly with both 1 and 2 players. This isnt just slow motion either for certain parts of the game. When killing just a couple of enemies I noticed that they fall really slow and the blood spurts really slow. At first I though it was just me, but when my friend came over and played he noticed it to and it just got worse from there. Ive played almost all of the Metal Slugs and Ive never seen this happen before. Is it just the game thats messed up or it is my board. It doesnt do this with any of the other games so Im thinking its the game. Someone let me know if they have ever experienced this before.

try metal slug x its like 2 but remixed and has a lot less slowdown

its lots less in 1 player compared to 2 player though

sadly , MS2 isnt suited for 2player because of this reason, unless you like 5 frame per second gaming.

MS2 Slowdown

Yeah MS2 Slowdown really only becomes a problem in 2 play in my opinion. I can cope with the 1p slowdown cos its just when theres a shitload of stuff on screen, but in 2p it actually spoils the game.

That's a hardware problem. Too much crap onscreen === the hamsters inside your neogeo can't keep up. ;-)

yea I played the Neo Geo CD version and thought SNK just got lazy on the conversion....nope, that game just has godawful slowdown. I managed with 1 player but once you get to level 3 with two players there's no point....dunno what SNK was thinking.

Thank god I have MSX now, beat the whole game with 2 players and hardly any slowdown at all (and frankly, it was needed :P)

Sorry to hear you found out about this the "hard" way. Yeah, MSX is funny because it's more of a mulligen on MS2 than anything else.

The slowdown on Metal Slug 2 is infamous, which is one of the only reasons people really liked Metal Slug X, since it eliminates basically all the slowdown. Still, I don't really mind it, especially before playing X. It's part of the game, and it still is a really great game regardless. I still think Blazing Star is just as bad or worse, but also a great game.
